I LOVE Steve Koke, and the work he has done for us. The other reviewer seemed to have a problem because Steve was working on something at the time he wanted service, but he's one guy, far as I know. However, he is the most honest, down to earth, helpful auto mechanic I've come across in 56 years. I only wish he spent less time welding and more time auto-repairing. He is an outstanding mechanic, and better yet, an outstanding human being. All this from my finding him in a random call. He has been such a help to us, I literally thank God I found him online. Hes been willing to work with us to find the right solution to an auto problem that would fit our budget. I can't say enough about his integrity and work.

This is in response to Rachel H. on June 11th 2015 leaving a bad review for mercury welding. I was hired by a gentleman out of Louisiana who had put a fallout shelter on Rachel's moms property 10 years ago. This gentleman contacted mercury welding to investigate a leak and decide what had caused the leak if it was not due to manufacturing or installation of the original structure he would not cover the expense to repair. After beginning repairing and drying of the fallout shelter located under the ground it became clear that the structure Rachel and her mom had built above the underground fallout shelter was too large and too heavy. There was no architectural design nor permit from the city to put a structure of its size( three foot concrete walls, 3 foot concrete ceiling , also a 800 lb door made of heavy gauge steel ) the underground building was never meant to support this amount of weight. After notifying the gentleman who hired me he no longer wanted to pursue repairing the facility as he was not liable because it had nothing to do with the integrity of his building but rather the negligence of the homeowner to install too large of a building above it. Confirming this information with Rachel I asked her to finish paying the bill and I would fix the entire building they are not willing to participate in payment. Mercury welding stands by its work we have been in the area over 15 years never having a bad report on any web page. I felt responsible to respond to such Ludacris accusations brought against my company. I stand by my decision to tell the gentleman the truth always the best medicine. Steve came out to give us quote of $4000. $2000 up front the rest after completion. After a month of excuses like, "I'm working on another job right now", "I'm too sick", and "My truck is in the shop" Steve finally came out to do some work. He welded about 3 and a half feet of steel then quit and said he needed more money and he wasn't coming back until he got it. The welding he did leaks just as bad as it did before he touched it. I'm not impressed with his work or his foul mouth.

when hiring a auto mechanic ask about their experience listen to them talk, if they don't sound intelligent they probably are not. Theres a good chance you won't enjoy your visit to their shop. Remember customer comes first
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Not everyone who has a bag of tools is a mechanic most people are parts changers meaning they can change parts but cannot properly diagnose issues with a car keeping that in perspective will help you understand why someone may do something drastically cheaper. Mechanics should be able to verify what is wrong with your car before throwing parts at it. Parts changers will continue to put parts on a car until it works- hopefully mechanics will diagnose your car properly and then repair it quickly because of a proper diagnostic your car can be repaired cheaper.
