Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Garage clean outs, property clean outs (foreclosure/reo properties), appliance pick ups, furniture pick ups, yard debris pick ups, demolition (sheds, hot tubs, boats, small structures) and recycling.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Think about the environment, try to categorize your junk into different piles appliances, metal, yard waste, rockery, construction debris and trash. This makes for more and easier recycling, it is difficult to recycle when everything is mixed together.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. My best advice to the customer is to use junk removal services in bulk. What I mean by this is that you are paying for a large truck and two employees to come to you. If you save the company money by having a larger load the discount carries on to you in a better price per volume. So either combine with neighbors or wait until you have a decent amount of junk built up.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Know what you need to have taken away before we get there, be thorough it is much more cost effective to you to have us out one time instead of two times.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. What I like most about my job is our jobs. What do I mean by "our jobs?" I am referring to the people that we meet and the interesting situations we come across whether it be picking up an old washing machine or demolishing and removing an old ship from a boatyard. Very fun job, family and friend owned and operated.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Do you take...? We take it all, every job can be done with a little bit of thinking power and the right tools. The only stuff we can not take is hazardous waste.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I wish that more customers understood the cost involved in picking up, hauling junk and recycling/properly disposing of the junk. A lot of people think that this service should be free or at most $20 to pick up. Unfortunately this is not the case.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. We started the company about 5 years ago now just outside of Seattle in Issaquah. We wanted to make a friendly, affordable hauling solution that could recycle the majority of the material picked up and of course be something that we could be proud of and call our own.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. Recently we demolished and removed 4 boats from the fisherman's terminal in Seattle. The demolition went smoothly, we were able to keep all of the oil, diesel and gas from entering the water ways and finished the project in the estimated time.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Yes, I actively look for new ways to expand my knowledge and the knowledge of the people who work around me. We are currently looking for some technical training in a special recycling sector.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. The plasma arc waste disposal systems that have come out can convert waste into usable electricity. This may effect where and how we dispose of waste.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. We picked up some wood from a deck, some old plastic roofing and some logs from a tree. We filled up nearly one of our 12x8x5 foot box trucks and hauled it off for disposal. The project took about 1 hour and cost about $400.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. Our prices are based on volume and priced at every 60 cubic feet or 1/8 of the truck. Our trucks can hold close to 18 cubic yards or 480 cubic feet of volume (Dimensions are 12 feet long by 8 feet wide by 5 feet high). Our minimum charge for under 60 cubic feet of space is $87.50 the next level is 1/6 of a truck for up to 80 cubic feet priced at $120, 1/4 truck for up to 120 cubic feet priced at $180, 3/8 of a truck for 180 cubic feet priced at $240, 1/2 of a truck for 240 cubic feet priced at $300 and so on for every additional 1/8 of the truck used ---- up to 480 cubic feet for a full truck priced at $480.
