FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $15 for a half an hour lesson, and am completely willing to drive to your own home if you wish as long as it's reasonably close. If you're a bit out of the way, I might ask for a dollar or two extra to cover gas and the extra time.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, not only do I take private lessons with a seasoned professional myself, but I'm actively involved in the music department at the local high school, in marching, jazz, concert, and pep music (with a drumline). I also perform with a local jazz quartet at various coffee shops and venues around Bellingham, and serve on the worship team at my church.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have friends who's parents I've overheard talking about how expensive lessons are when they don't even know if their child is gonna continue in the field. I got to thinking about it, and thought, "Hey, I remember my first few lessons. I could easily teach a beginner." I realized that even though I don't know everything, I could still teach beginners the basics of the instrument that i'd grown to love, and that the business would come due to my ability to charge significantly less than most professionals out there.
