Gina's business is 'One Good Dog' and Gina is 'One Good Trainer'!! We got a new puppy and asked Gina to help us with training her. It was amazing watching how our dog's behavior changed before our eyes as Gina worked with her. By Gina's 3rd session (over about two-three months), we had gotten a second puppy and she was able to help with the transition of our 2nd puppy into our home.

Gina is a professional, has the education and experience to understand both animal behavior and nutrition. We feel we were extremely fortunate to learn of Gina's services and are very happy with the results. Gina is also very personable and we very much enjoyed our sessions with her. We highly recommend Gina's training to anyone who wants good behaviour in their pets.

I have known Gina for years and have had Gina work with my extra hyper hound. I have attended Gina's training classes and have left my hound with Gina for board and train sessions and have noticed a marked improvement in my hounds behavior. Gina is a very knowledgeable trainer and I would recommend her to anyone.

My four month old Goldendoodle, Sadie, was a high energy puppy with some bad habits when she met Gina. After being in Gina's board and train program, Sadie's behavior improved drastically. Gina is very knowledgeable and trustworthy. Not only would I recommend Gina, but an even better recommendation is the fact that Sadie loves her!

I chose Gina because she was featured in several articles as being one of the best dog trainers in the area. She took very good care of my dog, giving her plenty of attention and exercise, taking her to the park, lake, and trails. She focused on the training I felt my dog needed the most plus reinforced some basic commands. GIna was also very flexible when I wanted to visit my dog and see how her training was going. I highly recommend her.

I left my young labrador mix with Gina for a 2 week training and boarding period while I was away on vacation. In this short time Gina transformed a very nervous and somewhat shy dog with an over abundance of energy into a well mannered obedient and much calmer pet. I was very surprised when I picked him up to find a very much changed dog. Gina has an amazing ability to understand dog manerisms and correct bad traits. Her manner is calm and positive and she seemed to have a connection with my dog almost instantly when they met. I would not hesitate to reccommend her services.

Gina Johnson, CPDT, is an experienced and skilled trainer. One of Gina's specialties is board & train where she keeps your dog for a prescribed amount of time and trains your dog. At the end of the board & train period, you will have a private session with Gina to provide you with the knowledge and skill to continue working with your dog and reinforce the lessons and skills Gina has taught your dog.

Due to the demanding nature of board & train, there are not many trainers out there willing to undertake this important work. Gina has years of experience in this field and will make an amazing difference in your dog's behavior and obedience skills.

I would highly recommend anyone looking for board & train, or private lessons in your home to contact Gina. You will not be disappointed.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Make sure the person you hire is personable and experienced. Ask what kind of training methods they use. If they do not use any treats at all then they use dominance and punishment to train dogs. It is helpful if the trainer is certified and belongs to an association. Then you know they are educated and accountable to a standard of ethics. Training should be fun!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Nutrition and exercise are so important to a dogs behavior. Also, socialization and exposure to many people and animals at a young age. Calm and assertive handling builds leadership and confidence for your dog or puppy. Do not be afraid to reward good behavior with positive reinforcement (treat, praise, petting, play) but do not give these things away for free. Make your dog earn them.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Ask about techniques, training, continuing education and certification.
Don't be afraid to ask for references.
Ask where the dog will stay (if it is board and train).
Ask if dog will recieve socailization in the community and with other dogs or if they just stay on site.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love seeing dogs enjoy the training process. Dogs learn very quickly when they are motivated and have clear communication. I love seeing owners excited and surprised at how smart and willing there dogs truly are.
