Question and answer

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

Of all the home improvement shows you see today, you'll notice theres a theme of DIY's or advanced and highly skilled carpenters that, for the most, attempt to remodel an entire home and tackle this grand scale project from beginning to an almost completed ending within the parameters of 30-min segment or a one-hour episode. I see them start with low voltage electrical, to plumbing, to sheet rock, painting, landscaping, so on and so forth. They even do some of the mill work around the base boards and windows, and hang cabinets and doors. With all that is being shown and carried out with their abundance of experience and professional demeanor by one or two or however many designers and contractors, you never see them think, consider, want or attempt to install carpet! They don't even attempt to get the ball rolling with laying tack strip or anything. They know better I suppose. Maybe because someone told them that it's just easier to thumb the yellow pages than to trying to figure proper quantities without over ordering (or shorting yourself in that matter) and fall-off cuts, and seam lay-outs. This doesn't even include the backbreaking work that it takes to get it prepped, cut, seamed, stretched, installed and scrapped-out. I guess this is mainly because even experts who have been in the trades long enough to learn how to master all these trades and crafts and demonstrated there prowess just moments before, know that even the master tradesmen doesn't have the basic knowledge of installing a proper carpet installation. I guess, point-in-case, is that you shouldn't attempt this type of trade that requires so much thought and follow-through without years of watching or making mistakes and learning how to counter them. Unless your pursuing a new career path, this particular skill is one worth hiring out. With that being said, think of the employees at a big box retailer (Lowes, Costco, Homedepot, Sears). Next time you're their, ask yourself some basic questions before latching onto their two cent short changed answer as formidable advice because after all you want "advice" not a "fill in the blank response" they are trained to give or learned through the other so called "Expert". 1). how old is this particular employee or how young is this employee? (this is important because age is wisdom. If this person is too young then the chances of answering your question properly is far from being something he/she actually experienced on a job.....meaning your getting schmoozed with hotair. If the person seems too old he/she may have experience, what path led them to becoming an employee at there current position. Common sense prevails that when your making $14/hour at a big box store versus double as a carpet installer you where either fired for not being able to advance because of unset skills or don't actually have the time in grade to advance within the trades, either way something isn't adding up here on my radar. I steer away from them for many other reason but these are major concerns when I'm looking for quality). My opinions may be biased; however, they are only meant to enlighten. So next time you cross paths with a Lowes, Sears, Costco or HomeDepot "specialist" or "expert" just ask them how much experience they had before leaving, with what companies, how much did the average person in there shop earn, and why did they leave for a minimal wage job? Hmmmmm. This is what I wish I realize if I was a homeowner not within my trade!!!

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Our customer appreciates 3 main things with all they experience within how we approach our specialty.
1. Professional.Top-notch customer service within all we do ensuring no stone is unturned. We answer any and all questions and communication is key eliminating any surprises the day of install or during any part of installation.
2. Quality. We are certified installers through the International Certified floor coverings Institution with years of hands-on experience working in the field and honing our craft. We are very much at the peak of our trade and have seen every type of install that could be thrown our way and have mastered them all. Plus, we back our own work with an industry guarantee of up to 12-months so anything that may arise will for sure with the first year. No fees, just call!
3.Affordable. At one point our motto was that "you get what you pay for". Everyone has heard that one before, but it wasn't true to our services any longer because we wanted to find away for our customers to benefit from not just the quality of our installations but also the affordable prices too. Also, our approach was that we wanted to offer financing because it's a great way for those who need now but want to delay payments for the time being....well most other flooring retailers figure "why not raise prices if they aren't gonna pay today, they probably want to spend more than less now since financing." That's not our etiquette and our financing is merely available as an asset to use for your needs of your project because after all it does appreciate value of your home, or will attract a clients potential buyer sooner than later. Overall, our price points for both installations and products are very affordable and lowest than average.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Everyday is a new day, nothing is ever the same in the industry of floor coverings and customer service and that's exciting. We are always on our toes springing from town to town going from one customer to the other. It's always a pleasure because we aren't just invited inside someones home, but also into their lives for the time being. I've noticed over the years, that to get to the "finding out" portion of our complimentary in-home measuring, we always learn more about the personal side of the person, which is great, because its a level of trust and overall invitation to personal relationship which synthesizes better customer service for us. We never just go into a person's home without getting to know them I guess is what I'm saying, so it's great because we met them, there families, and if even only temporary, it's quite amazing to have happen everyday.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. The questions that come up the most are geared towards installation.

How long does it take to install? There is no same answer because it's specific to each customers home and size and scope of work that needs to be done. If more than 2 rooms it could about half a day or 4 hours for this alone. An entire home is atleast a scheduled 8-9 hours or broken into phases of 2 days if its occupied by furnitured and needs to removed and replaced.

Does your installer speak English?
Simply put, yes. All installers are required to speak fluent English.

What is the personal history of your installers?
This is probably the biggest concern of our customers, as it is ours too. Our top priority is customer service and the quality of our installers goes hand-in-hand with that. Each individual installer has a criminal record check, driving record check, drug screening test as well as random tests upon employment, legal citizenship, and certification through the International Certified Floor Coverings Institution.
