I met JR Trujillo in February of 2011 a the Golds Gym in Woodinville, WA. Training techniques, nutrition and lifestyle changes taught by JR played a key role in my transformation as well as my fitness life today! I set out with one goal in mind when I embarked on this odyssey of self-transformation. To be the best that I could be for “me”. This encompassed evaluating all aspects of my life which involved an honest examination of my habits, good and bad, that had come to represent the way I had been living my life. I had a choice to make. Maintain the status quo and continue down the path of “average living”, or strive for something greater and more meaningful out of life. JR designed a realistic fitness and training plan. Nobody told me this was going to be easy and the task at hand seemed overwhelming at times. Through hard work, determination, sweat and tears I have persevered to build a new foundation for living right. The journey of a lifetime of change begins with one step. I took that step training with JR and never looked back… In 2011 I weighed 230lbs, was squeezing into size 38 pants and hand come to accept that XL and XXL shirts were the only sizes I could wear. I had been in great shape when I was younger, played sports and had a much higher self-esteem. Over the years I slowly packed on close to 40lbs! I didn’t even see it happening. It affected all aspects of my life, specifically my confidence and motivation. I saw others participating in activities and adventures that I used to enjoy. I was depressed whether I acknowledged it or not. I dedicated myself to a lifestyle change and the rewards have been phenomenal! The changes that JR and I made started slowly and the results were incredible. First through diet, then adding exercise and finally incorporating physical fitness as a “fun activity” into my daily routine. I began to participate in sporting events again that I never imagined I would undertake. I ran my first half-marathon in 2012 and finished without walking! My brother and I competed in a sprint distance triathlon and finished! JR and I (along with other members at the gym) set a goal to run in Tough Mudder and we all finished! What an achievement! I joined a ski racing team and improved dramatically, finishing in 1st Place for my age group in 2013! I challenged my brother to join me in January and now we come together at Gold’s Gym Redmond three days a week. This sense of accomplishment and joy that it brings continues to motivate me in all aspects of my life. My experience training with JR has been life changing. The camaraderie, teamwork and accountability are so important to my success and that of my fitness family at Gold’s Gym. My mantra is simple. Set realistic and short term goals. Celebrate my achievements and those of others whom I have helped and live life to its fullest each and every day. Don’t worry about who you were, focus on who you will become! Ben Bailey

Lawrence, or JR as he's known to his clients, is one of the best trainers I've ever worked with. He pushes you to your limits and beyond, but always with good spirit and enthusiasm. He goes the extra mile to accommodate his clients' schedules and to tailor his workouts to their individual physical needs and goals. If you're looking for a fun and challenging workout, try a session with JR. You won't regret it.

I came to the Personal Training Team and started working with JR in March twice a week because I was out of shape, having knee pain, and always tired . Cardio alone and counting calories were not helping. Within one week of working out with JR and changing my diet, I saw improvements. Seeing results so quickly really motivated me to keep working hard. JR has taught me how to work out more effectively and I am in the best shape of my life. I have gone from 30% body fat to 16% in just a few months.
