Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Now is a good time to start! Too often, there have been only two approaches to learning to play the piano. Many learn to play by ear; often, they are self-taught. They seem to be free to play anything, adding and changing to meet the situation. In reality, however, they are limited to playing only what they already know. Others learn to play by reading written music. This has primarily been the focus of most music instruction. These individuals seem to be able to play anything you can put in front of them, but actually, they are limited to reproducing the music of others. Don't ask them to play "Happy Birthday" at a party unless you provide the written music. There must be a better way, a third way. There must be a way to learn the piano without limitation, combining the joy of playing by ear with the strengths playing by written music. The goal of my musical instruction is exactly this: that you will be able to play without limitations. 5 keys to musical freedom: - Musical understanding (reading music, common patterns and musical styles) - Confident rhythm - Discerning ear - Creative expression (improvisation and composition) - Trained technique I have a Master of Music degree. Rates: * 40-minute lesson: $42 * 60-minute lesson: $63 I enjoy watching my students discover the fun of a job well done.

Our 13-year-old son has been taking lessons from Stan for about a year, and we have nothing but good things to say! First, our son was thrilled to find a man piano teacher; Stan has a great "uncle-like" presence. Our son looks up to him and respects him, but Stan is not intimidating, nor judgmental. Secondly, he makes learning fun! No matter how tough my son's school day was, he always leaves his piano lesson feeling refreshed and empowered! As parents, we appreciate this immensely! Stan works hard to find the right pieces of music for the child. We also appreciate being able to pay our monthly bill online. Two other pluses: Stan uses his iPad during the lesson to take notes so he doesn't miss any details, and he then prints out specific written work and keyboard work for our son to do between lessons. This ensures that there is no miscommunication between kid, parent, and teacher. And lastly, I have appreciated using the private room attached to the lesson room by a fully glassed door, to do work while the lessons are taking place. I can still hear the music and see the interaction, but I'm able to type on my computer without distracting my son.

Mr. Watkins teaches classical piano and music theory in a focused but fun environment. A variety of materials are available to the students and they learn to read music, use proper hand and finger positions, and to understand rhythm and dynamics. My children have made great progress since we started with Mr. Watkins.
