I hired Riley to pressure wash my rental house, garage, and driveway, as well as clean the gutters. He quoted me over the phone $150 for the house (which he said was less than normal because the house is only 750 sqft), $150 for the driveway, $75 for the gutters, and if I did all of them he would do the garage as well. After showing up an hour late (which wasn’t an issue for me) he commented that the driveway was larger than he thought (although pictures were included in my Thumbtack project). I told him it wasn’t a big deal to do the driveway, just try and get up some of the rough spots. After finishing (he did a good job overall) he said I owed him $500, $125 more than he quoted me over the phone. After some conversation I sent him what he asked for because he did good work, but he could have prevented any misunderstanding by sending a written quote via text, email, or through Thumbtack. He’s a young, ambitious guy just starting out. I would consider hiring him again.
