Goals
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Some trainers just train you without knowing areas they should avoid, for instance, if I'm training a person who works at a desk and/or they are on a computer several hours a day, I test them for tight areas in hamstrings and chest areas. If their shoulders roll forward (very common these days) I would work on upper back areas rather than chest so I can get shoulders pulled back to normal posture avoiding back problems in the future. Not enough trainers pay attention to the needs of their clients. What I like most about my job is getting people to reach goals they thought they could never reach. Could be weight loss, fitness, sports, or just moving better than they ever had in their lives. I had one client who had both knees replaced, she was older. She had a few weeks of therapy then was on her own. Nobody ever taught her how to use her new knees. She was bending over at the waiste and came to me asking for help with back pain. I saw how she moved, started a strengthening program for her legs using her knees to bend more and within a couple of months she was climbing ladders to paint rooms in her home. She was AMAZED at the movement abilities she never thought were possible...and no more back pain. I think of fitness as working towards a better quality of life.

While I was only able to work with Kris on one occasion, she was a consumate professional and I would not hesitate to recommend Kris.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Once I had two babies, I had a hard time losing the weight as I got older, like so many others. I didn't have weight problems as a child so I didn't know how to lose weight. I worked out but did only what I knew as a routine over and over and couldn't figure out why nothing was happening. Then when my mother was diagnosed with MS, I realized It's not really about how you look, but quality of life being strong and healthy means so much. So I went to the hardest school I could find...NOT online, to learn as much as possible how to not only be healthy myself, but help others is so important!!

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most common type of job is helping clients change old habits to get healthy, fit, energized & goal weight for life. I help them get to their goals as quickly as possible then check in monthly to keep them on track until I'm no longer needed. I am committed to my clients throughout their whole journey, celebrating each and every short term goal met as well as long term goals and getting through obstacles & barriers such as plateaus, all while having fun at the same time.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure they are certiefied and that they know the differences in peoples fitness levels. Too many times I've heard of people getting hurt by trainers that worked them over their current abilities. That should never happen. Also, meet with them in person before hiring them to make sure your personalities fit. You are partnering up with a stranger to change your life, you should at least like them.
