I am over the top happy with the flowers Floralescents did for my wedding! The bouquet was EXACTLY as I described I wanted, simply the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. The flowers on our wedding cake and the reception table centerpieces were exquisite as well. My guests were abuzz about how beautiful it was! Thanks for making our wonderful wedding amazingly beautiful!

Ginger is the best florest we've ever used here at The Steak House @ Silverreef! She consistantly delivers me high quality roses for the restaurant, and is a pleasure to do business with.

Recently I had the opportunity to visit the Floralescent studio in Ferndale. The moment you walk in, you're enveloped in an atmosphere that is warm, soothing and delightfully creative all at once. Designer Ginger has a unique flair for creating everything from sheer elegance to artful whimsy. It's readily apparent that she designs with each recipient in mind, and watching her is nothing short of amazing. Use this florist - you'll be very happy that you did!!

Thank you for the flowers that you did for my wife. I appreciate you telling me the best flowers you had and creating something unique and beautiful from those instead of the regular things I saw on the FTD page. Becky loved them. We'll be calling you again.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I do a lot of Wedding flowers, Get Well arrangements, I Love You flowers, New Baby, Valentines Day & Mothers Day flowers, Just Because flowers and Funeral flowers. I also do a lot of Corporate floral and Gift Basket work for several local, national and international Companies each week. I'm also an FTD Florist so I can help you with flowers and gifts locally and world-wide.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Know that I am dedicated to your total satisfaction in whatever I am designing for you. I'm artistic, experienced and well trained. I'm good at listening as you tell me about the floral picture that you have in mind.

If you aren't quite sure what you want, I can offer many great suggestions. You're sure to get exactly what you want every time!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. It's really interesting to know all that it takes to get a long stemmed rose from field to wholesaler to florist to you and all of the care steps that it takes to get it to you fresh and beautiful!

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. It's good to know what you want to say on the Enclosure Card before you call. It's hard to think of the perfect phrase on the spot. Also, unless you would like for me to include a greeting card, it's best to keep your message pretty short. If you can't think of anything appropriate, I can usually help.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. As much as possible, we grow the flowers used in our designs and buy from local farms and small businesses. Our gift baskets are comprised of all local products. Wow, do we have a lot of talent in this County!

Ginger Burress is Certified in Advanced Floral Design by the Floral Design Institute of Portland/Seattle.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. That's easy.....Only nice people order flowers and gifts! I don't know what the grumpy people do, but they don't call me. I have the greatest customers ever, anywhere!
This is why we are passionate about what we do for you.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Customers ask how to properly care for their cut flower arrangements.
Answer: Keep it cool and out of direct sunlight. Change the water every couple of days and give the stems a re-cut under water when you do.

Many customers ask what flowers are available in which seasons, especially Brides.
Answer: Call me. If I don't know about your favorite flower, I'll find out and call you right back.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. Well, I don't have a traditional walk in store front even though many of my customers do come to my studio. I'm hidden in the middle of 10 beautiful acres where I'm able to grow many of your favorite flowers. My daughter, Dani Ludwigsen has another 10 acres where she grows most of your other favorite flowers.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I've always been very artistic, starting with painting my bedroom walls as a kid. I used to be a Commercial Artist but that was a bit dry for me. Who knew that my favorite artistic palate would turn out to be flowers! I have always kept fresh flowers in my home and that eventually evolved into working for other florists then Design School, then my own business.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. Weddings! When I create Wedding flowers it is so special and exciting that I can't choose a favorite. Each one is unique and each one is my favorite!

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I subscribe to ongoing video training through the Floral Design Institute to keep up on the latest trends in design.
I also participate in Bridal Shows all over the Northwest.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. This is it....the internet. Because of the ability to reach you through this media, I don't have to pay the overhead of a Downtown store front and I get to work here in my adorable studio on land that I can grow your flowers on. Because of the internet, you can reach me 24/7.
