- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I'd love to be able to give a price per square foot price for each type of project I estimate, but every project has its own set of unique factors that must be taken into account. A gallon of paint can take anywhere from 3 minutes to 3 hours to apply, depending on how and where it must be applied. Our estimates wind up being a balance between a general sqare foot price and an hourly price for the labor to complete everything from prep to cleanup.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The majority of our business is residential re-painting. Exterior caulking inspection and a fresh coat of paint or two for weatherizing takes place primarily within the summer months. In the winter months our focus shifts to Interiors which can include millwork, cabinetry, doors, walls, and ceilings.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Unfortunately the painting industry is brimming with companies who send out a seasoned painter/estimator to bid the projects then turn around and send out low paid inexperienced crews to complete them. Everyone who works on our projects has more than 15 years painting experience...and most projects have the owner on-site throughout the project.
