A. Just because a picture looks like it was taken without being posed, doesn't mean there was no posing. Often times, the most natural looking images are shot in the seconds after the "real picture" was taken. Expect that.
A. My work is classic and timeless. You won't look back at your pictures 10 years from now and decide to enter them into Ellen's "Bad Paid-for Photos" contest. These are heirloom quality portraits, meant for mounting and passing down through your family.
A. If I get to make a person feel beautiful when they look back at their pictures, I feel like I have the best job in the world. When parents are brought to tears when they see the slide show I've created of their newborn, I know I've brought something good into their lives.
A. Do I get to keep the negatives? My answer is always : "What negatives? I shoot exclusively in digital and you get a CD of your images to show off to your friends, print, do what ever you want".
A. At a recent wedding, the Bride had scheduled me to stay till 10 pm, but the wedding was basically over at 8, at which time, she released me. Her bridesmaids, however, had a secret limo planned for the Bride and Groom that they wanted me to hang out and capture so they could have the memory. I thought I could hide from the Bride for 2 hours so she wouldn't suspect any thing, but she totally noticed me! Plan B was to pretend like I was just socializing with the guests. By the time the limo arrived, it had broken down, and my cover was blown! Finally, a functioning limousine showed up, the bride and groom were surprised and I got the shot!
A. We feel just as awkward behind the camera as you do in front of it.
