Question and answer
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Companies who care about the health and welfare of their clients take the time to be licensed, bonded, and insured. This is an expense that protects the Pet Sitter as well as the client. It is also beneficial if your pet sitter is Pet First Aid Certified. Many of the best pet sitters also belong to the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters. This organization is committed to promoting the value of pet sitting to the public as well providing support to foster the success of pet sitters nationwide. Pet Sitters who are found through the NAPPS website must be licensed, bonded, and insured.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Pet sitting is one of the most rewarding jobs, not only do we get to meet amazing clients, but we also get to spend time with their wonderful pets as well. Pet sitting allows pets to remain within the safety and security of their homes reducing anxiety and stress. Pets who remain at home have decreased exposure to illness as opposed to those who might be exposed to other animals in a kenneled type situation. Pet sitters try to keep their clients routine as normal as possible providing added comfort to the client and peace of mind for the owner.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. Hiring the right Pet Sitter is crucial to the client having peace of mind when they are unable to care for thier pets themselves. Our job as pet sitters is become the substitute caregiver in your absence. To love, care for, and interact with your pet the same way you would if you were at home. Communication is key when hiring a pet sitter. Tell us your needs as well as your pets needs and a great pet sitter with do everything they can to make sure that your loved one is being cared for exactly as you would if you were home.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. The absolute best thing about pet sitting is getting to meet all of the different breeds of animals that make up the households of my clients. Each pet and breed has unique personality traits that endears themselves to me. I care for a kitty client named Paddy who thinks he's a dog and a dog client named Kinja who thinks he's a cat. Wet sloppy puppy kisses are a bonus as well:)
