- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Shopping for a wedding photographer can be a confusing task. Do you want a cheap shooter that takes the pictures then gives you the memory card at the end of the day or do you want a professional to take the images from raw to finished? Photographers are either full time professionals or weekend warriors. You need to know that someone that has a regular job does not have sufficient time to handle all the tasks involved to see the job from image to album. The part time photographer usually does not offer a wedding album because of time constraints. Take the time to meet with a photographer and ask to see complete coverage of a typical wedding day. Don't base a decision on a few photos on a website. If family or group photos are important to you then make sure that that photographer is willing and competent to make those photos. You would be surprised how many photographers don't want to be bothered with family portraits or just do a quick sloppy job. Same would be for those "romanic" images. They do not happen by accident. A photographer has to set the scene and make the magic happen. Always ask for a "contract for goods and services" that spells out the exact time the photographer will be in attendance plus what tangibles you will receive such as CD,DVD,albums,ect.
