I answered an ad placed on Craigslist by Aloha and the call was promptly returned by Matthew (the owner). A short while later he met me at the job location and I showed him the yard cleanup work I need done. He seemed knowledgeable and everything went well. We agreed on a price and he said he could start 2-days later and should be finished the following day. I made a HUGE mistake in giving him the deposit he asked for. Over 2 weeks have passed. He is not returning my calls or answering texts. He has called a couple of times with lame excuses and now nothing. DO NOT HIRE THIS THIEF!

Matthew Jnana at Aloha Landscaping cleaned up and trimmed our landscaping and added bark & gravel to our .3 acer lot before we put our house on the market. The work exceeded our expectations and the yard looks wonderful. After we paid the deposit, he started the job a day later than he said he would. In the end he came through with flying colors by finishing on time within budget. We couldn't have asked for more. He and his crew were hard-working, helpful and knowledgeable.

Matthew / Jnana is unprofessional, does not honor his time commitments, and, after getting paid, did not return to remove the logs that were still on the ground after he cut down a large Sweet Gum tree in my front yard. He did not return phone calls or attempts to reach him by email. I seriously do hope nothing happened to him and that he's not hurt or in jail, otherwise I will never deal with him again

Yep. One of the reasons that Matthew Jnana, aka Matthew Thometz didn't return to my home to finish his work after I paid him: Soon after I paid him, he was arrested and thrown in jail for a DWI/DUI + driving on a suspended license + Violating the requirement that any Vehicle he drives has an Interlock device (basically a breathalizer that is connected to the ignition to prevent drunks from driving drunk). http://www.jailbase.com/en/arrested/wa-kc/2013-04-25/matthew-joseph-thometz-213011152

One star is not even deserved Matthew Jnana is not his real name Matthew Thometz is his real name. He did NOT grow up in HI, he is not a professional sufer, he had not climb the Himalayas AND there is no way he can be a EMT with his back ground. He dose not have a degree in landscape design. The only experience is do the yard work at our parents home when he was young. Matthew grew up in Bellevue, he went to ODay high school Went to college but never graduated. He has a problem with alcohol and drugs. PLEASE do not give him money before the work is done PLEASE...PLEASE I beg you do not give him money Until all work is done.... He is a scammer

References, Proper equipement,Dependablity and politeness. It is good have a rapport especially in the design phase of landscaping. Let the the landcaper know what your expectations are a firm timetable in which the different phases of the project should be completed.
