Two Men and a Bassist is a trio of musicians from the University of Washington and Seattle Pacific University who met through the rhythm section of a big band in 2007 and have been playing together ever since.
Featuring Collin Provence on piano, Mitch Haldeman on drums, and Olivia Hamilton on bass, they are available for weddings, parties, clubs, bars, or pretty much anywhere you want well played, entertaining music.
Although their roots are in straight ahead jazz, they feel at home playing everything from standards to funk, and back again.

Two Men and a Bassist played my wedding reception, and they were terrific both in terms of sound and being easy to work with. They played a variety of jazz and some funk, and people danced and had a great time. And when my husband turned to Collin at the end of a number and asked, "Do you guys know the theme song for 'Peanuts'?" they didn't miss a beat, playing it right away. I whole-heartedly recommend them!

Two Men and a Bassist are all that you could want in a small ensemble. They play great music, they are fantastic people to interact with and best of all, if they don't have the song you want, they will write an arrangement for you. Talent oozes from this group and I have nothing but great things to say about this group!

Olivia, Collin, and Mitch are everything you could ever wish for is a Jazz Trio. They are professional, friendly, and AMAZING MUSICIANS! These guys have a real magic when they play together! We recently did a recording together and the recording engineer was continually gushing: "Did you hear that? These guys are good!" In addition to all this they're extremely humble and easy to work with. Have a request? They'll go out of their way to meet it!

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. We are three people who are passionate about all types of music. Want Sinatra style standards all night? We can do that. Want some crazy danceable funk? We can do that too. Looking for sophisticated background music for your corporate party? We would be happy to oblige. We pride ourselves on being able to play anything and are always happy to sit down with our clients and create a customized play list for their event. In addition to the fantastic trio, we offer the services of select horn players and vocalists, should our client desire a combo.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. We love making music. Whats more, we love seeing people enjoy music and have their experiences enriched by good music.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. People often ask us about our rates and our traveling compensations. The answer is usually "Feel free to contact us, and we can talk about your event and your budget and work something out." Good live music can mean so much for an event, and we would hate to see people miss out simply because of a budgeting issue.
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. Lots of good stories from weddings. From the groom conspiring with the band to play the "Mission Impossible" theme song during the removal of the garter, to the bride's cat turning off the electric piano mid-song. Each one comes with a laugh.
