Introduction: I'm a family law and estate planning attorney. The legal process can sometimes be cold, confusing, and overwhelming, especially if you are already dealing with an emotional family situation. Unlike a contract or business dispute, in family law, you are laying the most important and valuable people and things in your life before the court for it to deal with your children, marriage, home, retirement, assets, safety, etc. It is about you, your life, and family; it is not “just business” to you or to us. At the Law Office of Dana K. Fossedal, we understand and respect this. We respect you. With over 12 years experience practicing law, I have a great deal of skill helping to guide my clients through these confusing and overwhelming times with knowledgeable advice and representation, coupled with respect, understanding, and compassion. I have successfully represented many clients over the years with various types of family law matters in almost every county in Western Washington, from Skagit down to Lewis over to Clallam. I also have experience dealing with all different kinds of people and personalities in working towards a successful resolution of these matters. Family law is not just limited to divorce or children. Family law can include problems in the following areas: • Divorce, legal separation, domestic partnership, unmarried couples • Child custody, parenting plans, non-parental custody, third-party custody, paternity, and adoption • Child support, spousal support, and DSHS • Community property issues, separate property issues, community property agreements, separate property agreements, and prenuptial agreements • Domestic violence and abuse, restraining orders, contempt issues, and CPS • Modifications of many different orders • Appeals I have experience in dealing with any one of these issues or combinations thereof, plus additional areas as well, such as estate planning. I am a strong advocate of employing alternative means to resolve family disputes, such as mediation or arbitration, as these methods always give you more control and input into the final outcome. Family law is one area where you want to have the most control possible over what happens with your children, your assets, and everything you have worked to build over the years. However, if that is not the direction you wish to take, mediation fails, or your particular situation simply calls for more aggressive tactics, I am always prepared to aggressively litigate your case at the same time, and I have extensive experience doing so. Regardless of your case or situation, we strive to treat all our clients professionally and with the understanding and respect you deserve. No matter how big or small your matter is, you deserve the same service and attention as anyone else. This is what we strive to offer all of our clients. If you have a family law issue you need help or advice with, please feel free to call us to schedule your free half-hour consultation. We would love to meet with you and discuss how we can help you handle what you are going through.
