Andy took a look at a roof leak that has existed for two decades. Others have come out and offered advice and services, but were never able to accurately identify or solve the problem. Andy not only solved the underlying issue, but his work was always excellent. He listened to our green concerns and came up with a reasonable and appropriate solution and he always explained every step of the process in detail. Additionally, he did exceptional clean-up and barely left a trace that work had been done inside or outside the house.

We originally hired Capstone (Andy) to remodel a bathroom in a 1919 home in Rainier Valley. He did an amazing job, on time, on budget, and with a lot of advising and ideas. He was able to bring in subcontractors for the electricity and he did the pluming, large tile floor, painting, and also built custom wood shelves. We plan on hiring him for other projects because he was so ethical, honest, helpful, and communicative. His costs and process are very transparent and flexible. We highly recommend Andy and look forward to working with him again.

Andy Smith is a great contractor! He was first recommended to me three years ago after a move, and helped me install 1200 sq. ft. of hardwood flooring in our home. He then installed 150 sq. ft. of slate tile in our entry. He remodeled our entry bathroom, laying new flooring, a new vanity and commode. He undertook a deck project that involved taking out large cedar timbers and replacing old 4x4 railing with ipe and stainless steel cables. Along the way, he's taught me invaluable lessons on home repair and renovation, exhibiting patience and a dedication to get things right, even if it means giving up a few dollars. He has often come in under budget. He's a great communicator, always providing pictures of work performed and keeping you up to date on progress if you're out of town. I trust Andy implicitly, and have had a lot of work performed while away. I recommended him to my mother, who hired him to do roof work. She's a tough customer, and is rarely satisfied with price or work performed, but she was satisfied with Andy. He's knowledgeable, honest and hardworking, and he's the right guy to hire!

I'm very pleased with the custom cabinet Andy built for my kitchen. He was very responsive during all of my communications with him and provided detailed estimates of cost and progress before, during and at the completion of the job. He had to come up with a creative solution to make the cabinet work and now it looks like it came with my kitchen. I'll definitely work with Andy again.

Andy did some work to my Mom’s Condo, in the late 2010. We were extremely pleased with his knowledge level, work ethic and especially the end result. The kitchen tile, general plumbing instillation and finishing work was wonderful. Andy has an artist’s flair when it comes to design work and we especially enjoyed the tile pattern he created for our Mom above the stove. Thanks, Andy!

Andrew Smith, owner of Capstone General Contracting,Inc. Has done extensive remodeling work for me; including the tear out and rebuilding of a staircase, installing wood flooring, the gutting of a game room and it's complete redo. This work included his doing all the associated electrical, plumbing, sheetrock, texture and painting etc. I have found him to be conscientious and hard working. He has all the nessasary tools for many types of work, and the ability to use them. I do intend to use him again.

We are very happy with the work Mr. Smith did on our house. We hired him for two projects: a closed in porch and a walk-in stone tile shower. Both projects were completed on time and with good results. The shower is very beautiful. Family and friends that come to visit say its gorgeous and they love taking a shower in it. Mr. Smith does excellent work and is a very friendly and professional contractor. We would definitely recommend him.

This company has done a ton of stuff for me, from small things like installing a dishwasher, through roof repairs and tearing down walls to combine rooms, to building a very difficult retaining wall. I get the impression nothing is too small or too big. Prices are extraordinarily reasonable. I wouldn't call anyone else.

A. Homeowners have to do some planning before picking up the telephone. With your ideas for repair or remodeling on paper, this simple initial step saves you money. With remodeling projects you need a detailed scope of work and maybe drawings (blueprints) if it's a larger project. This is the best way to get competitive bids, and the best way to save a lot of headaches, time and money. Most importantly you have control over the end product. Without written plans, you have a lot less control and could spend wasted money making changes to things built wrong.
A. I have 30 years experience with a very broad range of high-level skills. I provide the customer with unmatched control over the job, starting with detailed line-by-line estimates so each step of the work is visible, and the cost for it is understandable. I provide the ability to have all the materials obtained at whole without the normal contractor mark ups.
Debris runs to recycling and disposal site are provided free of labor - Customers only pays dumping fees and small mileage fee.
A. I spent 23 years of my first life hiring contractors as a certified property manager. I know bad service and poor workmanship. I created a company out of that experience. From the first meeting to the final payment, I tailored my services to be top quality for an affordable price.
As a life long fine wood worker and finish carpenter I enjoy creating and working with people. I am neat and clean and treat every job like it's my own. Unconditional two year warranty on workmanship.
A. I am very often asked what a project will cost before all the design details are decided. I understand it's natural to want to know the cost of options as the project is being designed.
My answer is prompt detailed research and prompt web-delivered replies with supplier quotes if needed to all design cost questions.
