A. Weddings high school seniors,models head shots and thier portfolios,Boudoir,Glamour,Telivision, video, and editorial print work. All Occasion!

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. The customer must be clear about what they want and make sure the Makeup artist is clear about thier vision. The customer should view the makeup artist portfolio to see if they like thier style before makeing the decision to hire them

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Makeup Artistry is a serious,detailed profession where you use your left brain thinking for detail and design and in tandum with your right brain thinking for the creative flow and direction . You know when you are on point when you feel that euphoric high that comes from creation. My inside secret is being prepared when opportuniy arises.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. The client should meet with the potential artist too see if thier personalty meshes with thiers. Then they should ask to see thier web site to see if they like the makeupartists approach to makeup and thier style.The customer should ask for reforences. Also find out if the makeup artist is licenced in thier field in makeup artistry and hairdesign. If you are getting married please schedule a test makeup and book her at least one month ahead;if the makeup artist is great you would be wise to book ahead as they are allways are booked out.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. You the customer must be clear on the look you want;bring pictures and do a test before the actual wedding. Senior portraits:Tell Makeup artist what favorite actor/actrress hair /makeup you admire,bring pictures and do not be afraid to speak up.Ask for references,resume and check out the Makeup Artists web site to see if you like thier style and to see if he/she will listen carefully to what they want. Ask yourself ?Will I feel comfortable working with this artist?if so proceed and do not wait till the last minute to book most Makeup Atists are booked 15 to 30 days out.Directors: usually check web site and references and will know what to ask and if you the Artist are the right fit for thier project.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I have been doing professional Makeup/Hair styling for many years;not in salons but for telivision,video ,editorial print work also models head shots and thier portfolios, boudoir, glamour and any where they need a Makeupmartist. I believe I see with my heart first and then employ my technical skills . My eye is on the art of it and I forget about the money . Art takes time and should not be dictated by money or time but for ever how long it takes to create the perfect outcome .

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. The blank canvas ;a models face and all her/his beautiful facial possibilities!I love making women and men feel good about themselves. Is'nt that what we are suppossed to do serve each other and give of our time and talents to edify anothers existance!

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Most customers are nervous about having thier photo taken and they want to know if they will be photogenic?I tell them a resounding "yes" All people are photogenic with the right Makeup Artist/hair designer/photographer we will get the inner image and outer image aligned to get your best image in print

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I was doing the hair/makeup for very popular professional wrestlers and on t.v. they appear to be enimies and I was shocked to find out that they were all friends and buddies and not the adversaries that I had thought they were! They are great acters as well as great athletes.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I have been doing professional hair/makeup for twenty-five years and the outcome always thrills me . A face has many possibilities just like a canvas and so many ways to interprate it. I am passionate about my work and that has never dimenished I will continue to learn all I can and always put my client first and will always remain flexable. I see with my heart first and then employ my tecchnical skills.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. In my teens I was the "go to person" for hair /makeup. I was raised Southern : My mother and her sisters(my aunts) loved to shop and were always dressed to the nines. I loved the way they matched textures, colors in thier wardrobe and the way they loved dressing and matching thier accessories and trying to out do each other (good naturedly) I also watched them apply thier makeup for special events and was amazed at the out come and how happy being a female made them feel. I loved the process.I wanted to be the one helping women discover and celebrate thier individual beauty.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I was hired to do a beautiful etnic bride for the cover of a popular magagine . Her essay had won her this spot and this beautiful woman/bride was glowing and made my work look that much better because of her happiness emanating from within. I finished my job which was more like a work of art. We were both on a natural high and I was asked to do her actual wedding the next weekend!

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I will be learning eye lash extentions to add to my bridal services and brushing up on the latest Esthetision services as well!

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. Air brushing of course, but the air brush machines need perfecting , less time consuming with a more innovative approach to the application ;maybe a pressurized disposable makeup tip that fits on each bottle/tin for each color that air brushes foudation and other colors needed right from the bottle/tin I believe this would be faster ,and more sanitary .Bring the disposable applicater to the product instaed of the liquid colors to the machine.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. I was employed to style a models shoot and five different looks in hair and makeup. I always marvel at the fact that I am getting paid to have a great time! I love what I do and the time flies when creative people are working as a team for a fantastic and arty outcome .You loose yourself in artistic pursuites!

Media work: telivision,video and editorial print Half day shoot ...350.00 if.. Earley Bird Shoot add.. 100.00 plus employer reemberses for parking... full day shoot... 550.00 ( 25.00 an hour extra over 8 hours.) will negotiate depending on details of project.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Do you love and have a passion for creative art and design ? Do you mind touching peoples faces. Do you have the fortitude and self esteem to relentlessly pursue your dream?Do you have a way to fund your future until you are working steadily in this very competitive profession? Are you willing to leave your ego at the door? Are you patient and can you mesh your creative ability with a team of other creative professionals that are working for the same comman creative goal . Do not call yourself a Professional Makeup artist untill you are properly licenced in all areas and have done 1000 faces. You will need this before you can develop your intuative feel for a persons inner image about themselves, a Directors vision and the industry itself. If you can put in the work be a dedicated student and listen and learn to other professionals that have been there you then can say you are a professional Makeup artist/Hair designer and with luck/preparedness and opportunity and a thick skin you will then have a chance of succedding in this wild and crazy bussiness. A. My greatest strength is Listening to my clients vision of what they want to achieve for thier hair and makeup event. The ability to see my clients hair and makeup allredy finished to perfection in my minds eye. The ability to please and satisfy my clients by bringing out thier inner image and aligning it with thier outer image. My clients and I work as partners bringing thier vision to fruition. An Artist sees with thier minds eye first and then takes it to canvas for the striking reality and the emotion that it pulls from the viewer.

Q. What are you currently working on improving?

A. I am currently working on adding skills to my magic bag of tricks such as eyelsh extentions, body art all new brushes and products that the beauty industry comes out with to continually improve the surface of the face and adding longevity to the makeup for the camera. I will continue to do more faces making a mental note of thier differences and improving my approach to these differences. In the end differences chalenge and shape you and improve your artistry.

A. What is true happiness? True happiness is being able to pursue the profession that you know in your soul you were born to do. The joy that it gives knowing that you are fullfilling your true destiny. Nothing could be better than that!

A. Why did you choose to go into a profession that may not offer steady work or steady pay? I was destined to do this work and picked up a set of professional makeup brushes when I was 19. I devoured Cosmo magazine and I dreamed of doing the cover makeup for the model like my idol" Way Bandy." This Makeup Artist was a teacher of fine art in a highschool and colledge .He went to the next level and started doing occassional faces for local photographers and approached it as you would a canvas with white for highlights and darker colors to create dimension/contour on a face .He was the first to do so ! His Talent and fame spread; before he knew it was doing Cosmo covers and many other editorial shoots. I believe when you deternine anything in life that you want to do your life gets into alignment with your dream and before you know it your doing the very thing your mind had projected. I did the same thing! I determined that I would be doing covers for magazines editirial print,models portfolios, weddings ,proms and all occasion makeup ect.ect.ect and I have accomplished it all! I also love glamour,Pin up makeup for woman that want to give these great photos to thier husbands . I love color;It makes people feel wonderful;It cane change moods and elevate your thoughts. I got into this business to help women and men achieve thier personnal best in the area of makeup artistry ,esthetics, and hair design .
