As the President of Reed Painting Co. the thing I like most about my job is the interaction I have with our painters. Starting out as a painter myself, it's rewarding to assist our teams in developing a plan for jobs and helping them to implement and succeed. I love seeing a job well done where the customer is happy and our crew is proud of their work. That's why I come to work every day.

We were happy to read a few very good reviews for Reed Painting, but in our opinion Reed Painting deserves at best a very mixed review. The paint job on our house looks really good from the street, but even during the job they had to be persuaded to take care of such details as siding repair after aggressive sanding. There was a frequently changing cast of characters—I believe I talked with three different project managers, which doesn’t speak well to knowing what’s actually going on at the job site, and certainly seems like a bad business practice. They promised to properly reinstall downspouts, but I had to fix their reinstallation, because they mixed up parts and made the front yard drain uphill---which is not possible. You promised to address one poorly sanded/varnished section of soffit that included a couple previously existing paint splotches [not their work.] They agreed to address the splotches, but the painter assigned to that task was supposedly afraid of high ladders; the work was never done. The height of the soffit is approximately 16’ from grade. You promised to clean up paint spatters on the iron front rail and screen door surround, then claimed some of that paint was already there. But the color of the spatters matched the new color of the house. You promised to send someone around to clean up the rail. After two months we’re still waiting. You promised to replace plants that had been destroyed by a ladder placed on top of them---we’re still waiting after at least two months. Due to some of the work that had to be corrected I was told that the original crew was fired. That does not inspire confidence, and I don’t know how that helps our project. Again, this seems like a bad business decision, either hiring employees who cannot perform the work or firing employees who simply need some direction. You left a ladder and bag of garbage next to the house. I took care of the garbage. The ladder is now mine. You are very diligent in asking for payment, and will stand at your door waiting for you to get your credit card. It’s difficult to find a contractor who will perform excellent ---or even very good—work from beginning to end, and does not state the need to get to the “next scheduled important job.” Reed proves that difficulty. Reed gets a B+ for painting, a D for clean-up and follow-through.
REED Painting Company's reply
Hi Joe, I am sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with our company. The issues that you experienced are certainly not our standard, and we hope to be able to resolve these matters with you. I understand that there were some hiccups throughout your project. Some of these issues were ones that any company experiences when dealing with personnel, trainees, etc., but we'd like to get everything squared away and all issues resolved to the best of our ability. Our owner, Kris, will be in touch with you tomorrow to discuss the matter and get things turned around. We appreciate your feedback, and look forward to talking with you. Sincerely, Tiffany Petosa Office Manager REED Painting Co.

We had a very good experience with the Reed Painting Company. We needed the interior of our mid-century lathe and plaster house painted, and we needed it done within 2 weeks. It took a few days for us to initially meet, but that is to be expected when you call and want to meet immediately. Randy came by with a portfolio of work the company had done for other clients. He was well-prepared and had additional certification (lead paint removal) that was nice (although there wasn't much removal in our job). He measured the rooms, took note of the various and numerous holes and cracks in our old house, and gave us a bid within 24 hours. He also included a colorist, Sheila, in the deal. Her help was crucial. Randy sent the bid by email, which was nice, as it was quite long. It covered about everything. The crew came in on Monday and was finished by Friday. That's kitchen, living room, dining room, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, entry and hallway. Also kitchen cabinets and doors! They used a lock box so we didn't have to be there to let them in. They started the project when we asked them to, finished on time, and even accommodated us beyond the contract: they removed window coverings, they allowed chimney repair contractors to share the space for an hour, and they met with us on a Sunday for the 'walk through'. Our only complaint was that they rolled on the paint on the kitchen cabinets, instead of using brushes. Maybe that should have been discussed....I assumed they would brush those, so I can't fault them entirely. We would use them again, and may do that soon for the exterior painting.
