Reviews

  • 5/5 stars

Lacey from Stroll Rover was great! She kept us updated on all of our dog Buddy's activities while we were away and sent us pictures of they're walks together from her phone. We will use her for all of our future needs and highly recommend her.

We have known Lacey for over 20 years and completely trust her with our pets and home. We have complete confidence in her judgment and reliability, and most of all her kindness toward animals. We have observed Lacey with her dogs and our own large black lab and small australian terrier. Regardless of the size or breed of the pet, she works well with them all. Lacey is loving and patient and her interaction with pets and training skills are second to none. We feel she truly cares about animals and is genuinely concerned about their well being and we highly recommend Lacey as a caregiver to your pets.

Question and answer

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I think it's important to note that there are only around 400 "certified dog walkers" in the United States. Being one of them I think that put's me a bit above the competition.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. I think this is a hard question to answer but I will look at it from my point of view. My dogs are my children so their safety and happiness is of the utmost importance to me.

*My first step would be to meet them and see how they interact with my dogs. You can learn basically all you need to know by this. Watch your dog's body language and the service professionals body language.

*Secondly its important to me that they use positive reinforcement with dogs. If they don't then they aren't for me.

*I would want to know what their exact plan is when they are with my dog. How long of a walk? Where do you go? Will other dogs be around? All those kinds of questions. TIP: If the dog walker has already begun to ask you these questions then you've found a superb dog walker!! There a keeper!

*Lastly, I would make sure and check references, licensing, and certification. Often times owners don't do this!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I think it's important for customers to know that only a small percentage of dog walkers are actually C.D.W (Certified Dog Walkers). Through the process of becoming a C.D.W I learned how to read dog body language, understand pack management, and went through the process of setting up a professional and licensed business. If you would like to learn more about the C.D.W certification please check out www.dogtec.org for more information.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. I think using positive reinforcement with dogs is becoming more common. I find that very EXCITING because when dog owners use positive reinforcement they establish a trusting and loving relationship with their dog that they never even knew they could.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. What is an interesting skill you have?

Since a very young age I have been obsessed with dogs! I spent my childhood memorizing dog breeds and it became a unique skill of mine.

Go ahead and give me a challenge - send me a photo of a dog and I can pretty much tell you what breed or breed mix it is.
