We are offering music classes for children from birth to nine years old. Bring your child to explore instruments, sing, dance, hear stories, explore movement, learn to read and write music, learn the instrument families, and more.
Classes are age-specific and developmentally appropriate. The curriculum culminates in group piano lessons for the older children who are ages 6 1/2 and older. Come for the fun; stay for the education!
Question and answer
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. In picking out a music education for your child you should strongly consider the following:
The curriculum used: is it an *education* or just a "fun time"
You get what you pay for: small community center classes are fun, but smalerl, private studios is where the real learning takes place.
The teacher: does your teacher enjoy teaching all ages? You want to be where your child is comfortable and can stay for many years to grow and learn.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. When I was looking for a music education for my own children, I realized that what I wanted was a music skills class that was fun and engaging rather than a class that was fun but not educational. That's when I learned about the Musikgarten curriculum. I trained in the curriculum and began teaching it in my studio. It is world-reknowned and award-winning. It is age appropriate and it is fun!
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I enjoy watching the children grow week after week, month after month and year after year in their musical skills acquisition. The children and I have a lot of fun in each class and the skills they learn carry with them to the next level. To watch them progress and ultimately "get it" with a new skill is very rewarding for me.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. I am a singer and have a bachelor's degree in Music, Vocal Performance. I also have two children. When my son was a baby, I knew I wanted to immerse him in music and attend a class where he and I could meet other moms and babies and enjoy our time together. I wanted to do this and still give my child a music *education*, not just a fun time. I learned about the Musikgarten curriculum and began attending with my son. I loved it so much that I trained in the curriculum myself and opened my own music studio at my home.
Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.
A. Pricing isn't very complicated. You pay for tuition and you pay a materials fee for each class attended. My website has all of the details at www.singingheartsmusic.com. Classes run 8-13 weeks and anywhere from $100 to $250 per session.
