I worked with Josh on the ecommerce drupal site tackysmack.com for a few years. He is extremely knowledgeable with best web practices, and very skilled with building a complex drupal website. Josh understands the full picture, and is adept at handling all aspects of a project. Not only does he have experience with back-end development, but he can also design front-end solutions too. I completely recommend Josh without hesitation.

Question and answer

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. What exactly are the business needs I'm meeting by improving or creating my online presence? What are the essential features and goals of my web project that must succeed and work perfectly? What level of expert do I need to accomplish each piece of the puzzle? What are normal rates for each of these levels of expertise?

Gather, or start authoring, all the materials needed to get the project constructed, rather than going forward with design or system construction without at least first drafts and reasonable samples.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I build and maintain high-level sites for serious professional clients. I have the experience necessary to create stable, perfect sites and easy workflows for organizations ready for quality.

I'm experienced in asking the right questions to get things right the first time and avoid costly dead-ends. As a past co-owner of a freelance digital talent agency, I've gained a unique familiarity with the tech contractor industry and how to work best other contractors.

I'm an active member of the open-source Drupal community and very familiar with this specific CMS, allowing me to rapidly develop working projects for you without building from scratch.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. It's quite common to be asked for rapid turnaround and expedited projects with no room for thoughtful processes or user testing.
It doesn't actually take a boat load of money or expertise to plan ahead and increase the success of your project by thinking ahead, including a development professional during the planning phase or just knowing which critical pieces are worth the extra effort to get right.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. Every decision you make upfront means hours spent in development time, so the better you can plan the more money you can save. However, planning does not mean intricate sketches of every detail it means knowing what you want and why, not how it should be done.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Look at all the pathways available in technology; each one has a community, learning curve, pay rate, lifestyle and way of thinking about solving problems. You'll need to pick your code language(s), platform, closeness to the end users, etc. Make these choices deliberate at first and see where your skills and interests take you.
