Currently performing Piano Technical Support & Warranty Tuning Services for Steinway Dealership (Sherman Clay of Seattle & Bellevue, WA), as well as Northwest Pianos, Bellevue, & throughout Western Puget Sound region of WA State including Kitsap, Mason & Jefferson Counties; & much of Olympic Peninsula.
Several of my previous Clients in Minnesota & WA State write the following comments:
....MY PIANO SINGS WITH A VOICE OF SWEET CLARITY! Dear Steve; I sure wanted you to know how pleased I am with how beautifully my Piano sounds & plays!
...With everything tightened up, it feels all even & responsive to the touch. And the Sound! This Kawai Grand Piano sings with a voice of sweet clarity! You made it into a wonder of sweet Joy for me! I love it. I keep telling all my students "Listen to how Beautifully this piano sings to you.. Every note is exactly right! " Steve, THANK YOU; Mrs. C. Siirila.; Piano Instructor, Andover, MN
....I'VE RECOMMENDED THE HUMIDITY CONTROL SYSTEM TO SEVERAL OTHERS! "Steve Malloy has always kept our piano in first rate condition. Before [I hired] Steve, the tunings were unstable, always a problem. Steve recommended a Humidity Control System (from Dampp-Chaser Corp.) & following the installation, the tuning didn't drift in 6 months! I've since recommended the system to at least six others, including a theater with a 1939 Steinway which they could never keep in tune. Now, they love it. Steve will be missed here in the Twin Cities". N. Lewellin, Track Record Studios, St. Paul, MN
.... A WONDERFUL PIANO TUNER! "Steve was our wonderful piano tuner for years and he is surely missed! I hope you are enjoying the Pacific Northwest...!" Sarah M.; Music Educator & Piano Instructor, Anoka, MN
....A TRUE PROFESSIONAL..."Steve has been the caretaker of my 1949 Gulbranson Master Studio Piano. He is a true professional in his field. Steve is extremely trustworthy, knowledgable & has the gift of sharing information. Pianos need more than just tunings as they age. Since purchasing the piano in 1982, I had problems with the lower bass section holding the tuning; Steve repaired the piano and now it holds the correct pitch between tunings. His pricing was always fair. ...I made arrangements to have him install a Humidifier (Dampp-Chaser System) to extend her wonderful tone. A great Investment!! I loved being able to schedule a tuning every 6 months. He would call me a week or two before he was due out to confirm date & time; again, a professional based in service to his accounts. I will miss having Steve here in Minnesota and strongly suggest that anyone in Kitsap County, Washington contact him for care of their Piano(s)". J. Welliver, IBM Global Technology Services; St. Francis, {Anoka Co.} MN.
....HAS A KNOWLEDGABLE ANSWER FOR ALL THE QUESTIONS I ASK.."Steve was the first and has been the only technician to service my 5'4" George Steck Grand Piano. From the first, he has taken care to explain his work, recommend the best options for caring for my piano over the long term, and thoroughly completing our agreed upon plan. He has a knowledgable answer for all the questions I ask and a comprehensive understanding of the field. I emphatically recommend his services." M. Lund; financial Grant Writer, Minneapolis Area Council of Churches; St. Paul, MN
....HIS WORK HAS ALWAYS BEEN EXCELLENT... "To Whom it may Concern: Steve Malloy has tuned the Piano at our home for several years and made repairs when necessary. His work always has been excellent for reasonable cost, and I recommend him to any individual or institution in need of Piano Tuning Services." Best Regards; Mr. P. Melrose, Industry Marketing Mgr., IBM; Minneapolis, MN "
....HE WILL GO ABOVE & BEYOND.."Steve is a pleasure to work with. His knowledge & experience is top notch and I trust my piano to his care twice a year. You can be sure that he will go above & beyond to ensure that his clients are happy" A. Bobick; Piano Instructor & Performing Musician; Anoka, MN
....HIS WORKMANSHIP IS SUPERB & DOES A VERY THOROUGH JOB..."I recommend Steve to all of my piano students as a Piano Tuner; his workmanship is superb. He has taken great care of our Pianos for the past seven years; he's had great availability,is always punctual, and does a very thorough & personal job. We wouldn't go with anyone else!" A.Beibelheimer; Piano Instructor, Plymouth, MN
....WOULD NOT HESITATE TO RECOMMEND..."Steve is a terrific piano technician, and is always willing to help out however he can. Even if it means making a trip way out of his way to make a client happy. I would not hestitate to recommend Steve for technical work on any piano, from the smallest spinet to a concert-quality Steinway grand piano." D. Villaflor; Sherman Clay Pianos; Seattle, WA ..April 29, 2011

....SUPERIOR LEVEL OF PERSONAL CHARACTER & INTEGRITY...." I don't know how to describe the superior level of personal character and integrity, professionalism and ability, nor price and efficiency.....
I found Steve Malloy after doing a "google" search and decided to call him because he was closest to my home. I did not own a Piano but found a free one on Craigslist and wanted some advice before looking at it. I expected to get a little bit of a cold shoulder because I was not a paying customer and was really just searching for information. Steve offered to come out with me to look at it, encouraged me to call him while I was looking at it by myself and gave LOTS of tips and advice just in case I did not take him or call him from the site. I decided to get the Piano and called Steve to do the repairs because I was blown away by his willingness to help me BEFORE any kind of business transaction was discussed. He seemed to be more excited about my new 100 year old piano than I was. "... I just love seeing these old Pianos!... wow... this is such a gem..." He gave me a quote which was close to half what I was expecting to pay, and then he did the work and only asked for tiny amounts during the process. The quality of the work was phenomenal; The Piano plays well, sounds great, and looks amazing. I don't know how to describe the superior level of personal character and integrity, professionalism and ability, nor price and efficiency. Thanks so much Steve. We love this Piano...

Steve Malloy has been courteous and helpful from the first day that he worked on the three pianos we have at our campus. He has done a wonderful job keeping them sounding their best and working out whatever kinks seems to arise. The pianos are used to much, they always need to be in tip-top shape. Thank you, Steve, for the wonderful job that you perform for Crista Shores! We truly appreciate your expertise and the mini concerts that you provide!

Steve did piano tuning for us for about an hour and a half. He seemed very experienced. He's knowledgeable and thorough, and the piano sounds great.
I'll definitely recommend him to others and hire him again. He's nice, kind and professional. He did a great job!
What I liked about him as well was that the scheduling was great-- he came on time, and it's easy to get a hold of him.

Thank you so much, Steve, for your attention to our sanctuary piano. The tuning is right on, and the repair of the pedal, an added bonus. And I enjoyed our visit a lot. Welcome to the Pacific Northwest, a beautiful place with wonderful people (since I'm also new to the area, I'm still learning to appreciate it). Thanks again for your good work, prompt service, and your expertise.

A. Don't be afraid to ask alot of questions! That's precisely the reason I'm in business here is to answer those tough inquiries. I'd rather have you do that at first than to develop a bad case of "buyer's remorse" and have to regret that Piano purchase later. Shop around if you aren't loyal to one specific Brand of Piano; The same goes for questions about Tunings, repairs & Restoration service work..
A. My Piano Tech. experience over the past thirty years in both Minnesota & WA State exceeds that of many other Tuners/Techs in my area of Puget Sound, Washington; with my Piano Action Restoration experience/specialties & a local network of Piano rebuilding shops, movers & the like, I'm able to offer a wide range of Piano Services to the Grand Piano & Vertical Piano owners here in Puget Sound Area.
A. I really enjoy working with my hands on intricate Piano Actions & specific repair jobs. I enjoy showcasing my Tuning Skills with a 10 minute Piano Recital following each Tuning; in fact, this is part of my tuning procedure as it is critically important to set the string tension across the Piano's Framework after the Tuning. My interaction with the public & customer relations is also most enjoyable to me personally.
A. The most common inquiry is "How often should my piano be tuned...?" To which I reply; "If the Piano is brand new, it really needs a tuning every 4-6 months over the first 2 years of the Piano's life so that new strings are stretched out adequately in order to stabilize tunings; this tuning frequency/time frame is strongly recommended by both Piano Manufacturers & Technicians alike; If a piano is much older, Tunings once per year are recommended, particularly if Children are taking Piano Lessons in order to keep their interest at a higher level; with a terrible sounding piano in the house, the child's interest wanes week after week.
A. Piano Tuning along with the Technical expertise utilized at each appointment or Job is an acquired Skilled Trade developed over many years, thereby costing the technician much time & financial outlay. Our neccessary compensation for each Piano appointment then is based on all those years of gained expertise.
