I offer piano instruction from beginning through intermediate levels. Lessons are given from my studio, which is located between Monroe and Snohomish, Washington.

Students are given a well-rounded exposure to music, and learn to hear, evaluate and play piano music of various styles and from all eras of western music. I allow my students to include music of their choice in lessons.

At every step, I take the utmost care in teaching proper technique and artistry, having studied methods taught by The Well Prepared Piano Institute. I also encourage and help students to explore their creative side and composition. Music theory and note reading practice are a part of every lesson.

I feel that the most successful learning experience for students has been when the teacher showed a keen interest in their development. I will aspire to this standard with your student.

Question and answer

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. The focus of my piano teaching is on proper technique and artistry, as I employ the methods of the Well Prepared Piano Institute. I am an active member of Snohomish County Music Teachers Association, which offers students year-round events in which to paricipate.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I enjoy the interaction with my students - it's fun! Most of all, it is gratifying to witness students evolve into appreciative and capable musicians.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. People most commonly ask me what my background is, and how long I have been teaching. I tell them that I am state and nationally certified by Washington State Music Teachers and Music Teachers National Associations, and have been teaching piano for over fifteen years. They also ask what genre of music I teach, which would be baroque, classical, romantic, and contemporary. If a student wants to incorporate pop, jazz, or other types of music into their lessons, we do.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. What I wish customers knew about my profession is that the Music Teachers National Association and its affiliates is a huge resource for finding all types of music teachers. I am proud to be involved with the Snohomish County Music Teachers Association, which is among the most active of MTNA affiliates in the state of Washington.

Music Teachers National, Washington State Music Teachers, and Snohomish County Music Teachers Associations can be found on the web at mtna.org, wsmta.net, and scmta.wsmta.net.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. One of the ways in which I strive to improve my piano teaching is by annually attending SCMTA's four workshops, and WSMTA's day-long District Conference. The workshops and conference are innovative and inspiring teacher-education sessions.
