FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an Associate In Applied Science degree with advanced course work in Illustrative (Creative Advertising) Photography. In addition, I have also earned the FP and AFP degrees from the Professional Photographers of Washington. I continually take part in seminars and training with professional photographer associations like the ASMP, PPW, PCPPA as well as independent online education providers like Creative Live.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was first excited by photography doing nature and landscape work in the Boy Scouts. However, because of my excellent math and science abilities, I began college to pursue an engineering degree. I quickly decided that combining my technical and artistic interests with a career in commercial photography would be the most fulfilling. That was in the pre-digital days, which required much higher technical ability to get excellent images at capture- no photoshop rescues or retouching available!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I photograph a lot of products and facilities for business advertising. That can be anything from tools, jewelry, food or machines to factories, condos and new or remodeled homes. I have many clients that make supplies and components for the building industry- windows, deck and rail systems, fasteners, etc. On a sunny day you may find me in a helicopter making images of large public works projects like bridges, water treatment plants, roadways or transit stations. I also work with people, creating business team and individual portraits in the studio or their work environment as well as models demonstrating the use of or enjoying a product or service.
