Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Ask friends, if they recommend their photographer. Many of our customers are from referrals.

Look at the work of several photographers. Find three that you like and arrange to meet with them. You want to be comfortable with your photographer as they will be with you for the entire day if they are photographing your wedding. While your not looking for your next BFF, you are looking for someone you can trust to tell your story while being comfortable around them.

Do they have a lot of photo editing gimmicks? Will the photographs shown stand the test of time once those gimmicks are out of style?

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I'm sure customers have noticed that pricing for photographers varies greatly. When shopping for a photographer be sure of your FINAL price. I know many photographers who quote a wonderful low price and then quietly add fees for even a basic edit, for full resolution CD's with printing rights or even the low resolution CD's that are only good for online use. So, what seemed like a good price often exceeds the price of a photographer you originally thought was more expensive.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Well, everyone tells you to ask some of the following questions:
Do they have a business license?
Do they have back up equipment?
What type of equipment do they have?
How much experience do they have?
And so on.

I like to ask, what motiviates or excites the photographer about their field/job?
How did they get started?
I recommend listening to them, are they passionate about their work?
