Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Be sure you are attending class with a Bikram Certified instructor. This is vigorous physical exercise. The room is hot. Be sure to prepare, be well hydrated, read the how-to-prepare instructions on our website (hotyogaofwoodinville.com). Arrive early, bring a mat and a bath-sized towel, leave expectations behind along with your cel phone, jewelry, valuables, and anything you might think about any kind of yoga. Open yourself to an amazing experience and stay with it, don't stop. This yoga will change you at the cellular lever from the inside out.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. The type of training of the teachers makes a huge difference. You can't beat Bikram level certification. Teachers undergo rigorous 500 hour certification program, continuous practice and study of yoga, anatomy, physiology, nutrition, health and well-being for 9 weeks, and must be certified by Bikram himself. And that's just for starters. Then they must maintain constant practice along with teaching, usually at an apprentice level for a couple of years, and update their certification at regular intervals. They give each other constant feedback.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. Are the teachers certified by Bikram? This makes an enormous difference in the experience and ability of the teachers to guide you, and provide corrections as well as adjustments. Any level, any age, Bikram Yoga is the original hot yoga and designed to help and heal all bodies.

Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. This is the most amazing job, a real privilege to maintain and run this yoga studio. Yoga teaching is a service that really helps people. They come in tired, sore, worried, in bad shape. They leave with happy smiling faces, glowing, feeling a lot better. This yoga is the best thing people can do for themselves, their families, and their communities, maintaining strong and healthy bodies, happy hearts, and active, sharp minds. What could be better? People thank you when they are done working their heart out. They tell everyone they know, they bring their friends in. Once they get what the yoga can do for them, they never stop.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Why the heat? because it helps you move more easily with less chance of injury, helps you eliminate toxins, and burn fat. Where are you located? In The Plaza on 175th, right behind Taco Bell. I've never done it before, can I do it? Anyone can do this yoga, at any age, start any time. I'm not flexible, don't like heat, can I still do this yoga? Anyone can do this yoga, you get used to the heat in just a few days, you don't have to be flexible, you will get flexibility from doing it. I am older, can I still do it? Bikram says never too old. I have high blood pressure, or diabetes, or health issues, can I still do this yoga? Bikram says never too sick to begin again and practice yoga, get better, regain health, youth, get your life back.
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. People say: "For the first time in my life my back doesn't hurt"; and "I couldn't even bend my knees, now I can work in my garden for hours without pain"; and "I was able to get off all thyroid medication, all my tests show normal thyroid function"; and "My doctor said I needed surgery on my knees but I quit running and increased yoga practice and now I don't need the surgery." And "My blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol levels have all improved greatly from my last tests six months ago." These are all common feedbacks from our students.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. I do this to keep myself fit and healthy, my back free of pain, my mind centered and to be effective in my life. Besides, it's so wonderful to be teaching people how to do the best possible thing they can do for themselves, healing themselves and doing for themselves what nobody can do for them. Not even the best therapist or physician can do for you what you can do for yourself, with proper instruction, knowing the right way and continuing without stopping. If I stop, I don't feel so good, I have learned this time after time throughout my life.
