FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My prices are individually based for each project depending on its simplicity or complexity. This applies to both quilting/sewing and interior design projects. It is helpful to me if a potential client has established a budget (I can also help with this). I will always try to work within a clients budget if it is reasonable for the work desired. I will also explain details of what my price includes and what it does not. When both parties understand what is expected, there are rarely surprises.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually meet with the customer and bring samples and pictures of my work. We then discuss their project in detail and work out a price that is fair for both of us. When an agreement is reached, I write out a detailed invoice for them to sign and note the deposit received and balance due. This protects my customer from receiving surprise extra charges and protects my income.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
How people function in their homes, color trends, and technology are always changing and impacting the design world. I am an avid reader and pay attention to the trends that come to my attention through the internet and magazines. I am a self-trained interior designer. I have been sewing since I was three, when my grandmother taught me how to darn socks. As a teenager, I made most of my own clothing. In my twenties, I began making baby quilts as gifts for my friends. Later in life I worked for Moda/United Notions as a sales rep and learned a lot from my customers. After my territory was reconfigured, I worked for a local quilt shop and taught classes.
