I have been seeing Patty and joining in her Reiki shares, I am a Master Reiki Practitioner. I am also a Reflexologist, we share information and treat each other. Patty is very good at her profession and an excellent teacher. I would definitely refer people to her for Reiki and definitely for classes ! She is straight forward and very real, follow her advice and you will see a difference in your health.

A. Call and talk to the practitioner. Make an appointment just to meet them first and see if your energies match.
Some practitioner are going to be a better match for you and your issues than others. See several practitioners and then you will know which one works best for you.
See if they have testimonials. Have other people seen them and made comments about how much their work helped them? Look over their websites carefully. How long have they been in practice and how much other training do they have? Also find out if they do any community service or if they are willing to work with peoples financial situations such as offering sliding scale fees (I do). I also offer "Reiki sessions by donation only" for one week out of every month (the last week of the month).
A. I have studied and experimented with Reiki extensively because I felt that I had to know it inside and out in order to utilize it fully for the service of my clients. If you do something as important as bringing health and well being to other human beings, I feel it is your duty to be up on the very latest information on it and to have worked with it extensively. I continue to do ongoing studies of other healing modalities and to open myself even more to Spirit.
A. I am a people person. I love talking to people and helping them to understand what it is that is they struggling with and help them to come up with viable solutions to make their lives better and to get to a place where they can fully be who they are meant to be.
I find it very rewarding to help someone see how much they needed a rest, how tense they were before they came in and how relaxed they can be after a treatment. Or to empower someone to help themselves or their loved one by connecting them to Reiki so that they can self-treat when they need it, or treat their child or partner or send distant Reiki to an ailing relative or friend that they cannot physically be there for. It takes away that awful feeling of futility, that helplessness of "I can't do anything" and empowers you because YOU CAN make a difference, a tangile difference by sending them Reiki or joining a Distant Healing Group to send Reiki to situations like the horrific natural disasters in Japan.
A. What does it feel like to get a Reiki session?
It varies so much from person to person and session to session. Sometimes there is a lot of heat coming from my hands or even cold (this varies depending on what the body needs). Sometimes the receiver might feel lots of tingling, plusing or swirling energy in their hands and feet or where my hands are or in other parts of the body. They may also see bursts of light or color or colors going in and out like a kalidescope behind their closed eyes. I am often asked what do the colors means. I wish I knew. I've asked many very well known and very advanced Reiki Master Teachers and they give varying answers. The consensus is that the colors are representative of the different frequencies or vibrations of the energy that is coming in. They are usually the chakra colors and possible some white, gold and silver, or sometimes black. Again, it varies from person to person and session to session.
Sometimes an energy block is released - the Reiki practitioner experiences this as a tremendous amount of heat coming in (their face may get hot or their whole body, they break out in a sweat). People have told me it feels like my hands are hot coals or that my hands feel like a heating pad on high. This is normal and a very good thing. Now the energy will flow better in the area where the block has been released.
A. That it is just as relaxing and stress reducing as getting a massage. Many of my clients fall into a very deep sleep while receiving Reiki, we call this Reiki slumber and we believe that deeper healing takes place during this time, as it gets your ego out of way and the energy flows better. Some people have even told me it's better than a massage because it doesn't hurt!
One of the main benefits of Reiki is it's stress reducing abilities but also it balances your body, mind and energy field.
There is nothing hocus pocus about this work. It is very calming, and soothing and can relieve pain, help you sleep better and so much more.
A. I believe you are called to do this kind of work. For me it was a natural progression from Tai Chi instructor to Reiki Practitioner. Both utilize energy, some say the same kind of energy (universal life force energy). My journey as a healer began when my Tai Chi instructor told me I was "doing healing work" when I took over her tai chi classes when she retired. Tai chi is a form of chinese medicine, as is QiQong and Acupuncture. This got me thinking about the fact that I was in essence a healer and then Reiki just sort of popped up. Someone in my tai chi class was Reiki and gave me a session. I just had a "knowing" that I wanted to learn it and teach it, just like the knowing I had with wanting to teachTai Chi. Tai Chi helped me to recover my health and sanity after a long protracted illness that Western Medicine couldn't fix.
A. I am continually learning more and more ways to use Reiki as well as taking classes in other healing modalities that compliment Reiki, like Crystal Healing. I am certified to level one in Crystal Healing and am currently studying another course in it. I also recently became a Spiritual Healer for the Spiritualist Church and am taking classes in Mediumship. I recently took Level I & II Kaurna Reiki ® training (considered a "step up" in Reiki training) and plan on taking Levels III & IV in the Fall so that I can teach it at some point later in the year. I believe we should never stop learning - there is so much to learn and I find it exciting and fun! I will be taking a correspondece course on Mediumship through the Morris Pratt Institute in Milwaukee starting in July also to become certified as a Medium.

I offer "by donation only" Reiki sessions, one week out of every month (the last week of the month) as my way of giving back to the community. If you purchase a block of tai chi or qiqong classes (8-10) you get a 15% discount.
Reiki sessions can also be bought in blocks - 3-5 sessions also at a 20% discount. See my website for the monthly specials on Reiki sessions!
A. Visit with and/or have sessions with several different teachers in your area. If they have testimonials on their website check those out. Some people are going to resonate with your energy better than others. If you know someone who is Reiki ask about their teacher (word of mouth is always preferred). Make sure that they are accredited and experienced. Do not go to someone who offers classes in all the levels very quickly.
Each level should be done separately with a minimum of 30 days in between, although it is highly recommended that you take much longer in between each level (6 months to a year, especially from level one to level two You need to fully incorporate and work with each level until you feel it is time to go onto the next one. Also, I would never tell my students when it is time to move up to the next level. That is their decision. Anyone telling you it's time you moved up, does not have your highest good in mind, only their pocketbook.
