FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The first session is $125. It covers the 2-5 hours needed to observe you and your family and how you interact with your dog. It allows for me to see where your strengths and weaknesses are. Also, where your dogs strengths and weaknesses are. Before interrupting and changing things around it's imperative for me to observe this with every member of your in-house family. Or anybody who has day to day contact with him. I charge per session for each remaining session so you are not ever locked into a large package. There is a base pay of $50 for the first hour and $25 for every hour after the first, per session. Two hours is sufficient for those follow up sessions. Generally my clients need the assessment visit and two follow up sessions .There is no charge if we get half way through a session and you decide my tools are not for you. If you want to save a little money I offer a free 3rd session if the assessment and two follow up sessions are paid for upfront.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common thing I get hired for is what us trainers call "small dog syndrome". Yes, it is a real thing! Small dogs tend to have a strong personality due to the jobs they were breed for and for survival reasons. The problem is that those traits that are good in the wild or for job purposes are not usually good in the home. However, when we have a 5 or 10 lb dog we don't see the harm in it. Until its a problem for you or more than likely, for someone else. The other common reason people need my help is implementing what they learned at dog class in the home. It is often hard for people to transfer what they learn in class to their home. For the same reason it is hard for them to see or understand the part they play in their dogs misbehavior.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Doing a little homework, like answering the question I listed, will go along way in find the right Dog Trainer for you and your family. Keeping an open mind and trying new things too. Lastly, don't despair, you are not alone. The only wrongdoing in having a naughty dog, is knowing you have one, but doing nothing about it!
