FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get an idea of what that person is like and what usually makes them feel good. Since makeup is so subjective, I like to see pictures of the client on a "normal" day, pictures of the client where s/he loved the makeup, and inspirational images that show what the desired outcome is. This way, I can get a sense of how bold the look will be, as someone who usually only wear lip balm is unlikely to want a really dramatic look. Even with that background knowledge, I still err on the side of natural and build to the target look, as it's easier to add than remove makeup!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I regularly attend tradeshows and classes to learn new techniques. I also follow many brands and blogs to stay in touch with new products and trends.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I modeled for many years and over time worked with many amazing artists, and absorbed what they taught me like a sponge! I didn't want to leave the industry, so I stepped to the other side of the makeup chair! I think being in the chair for so long gave me an advantage of being able to put myself in the client's shoes - which is why one of the first things I purchased for my makeup kit was breath mints! ;)
