FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My fiancee, Len Jr., took over Investment Painting Contractors in July 2013 after his dad had been running it since 1966. Junior did the manual labor while I did the books, e-mailing, phone calling, etc. (all the stuff that happens behind the curtain). Junior was killed in a car accident May 11, 2014, so my crew and I decided that we would continue the business in his memory. Our foreman, Theron, has been in the industry for over 15 years and is teaching me all the ins and outs. I have a fantastic, dedicated crew and work with other sub-contractors (plumbers and electricians) to make any dream a client has into a reality. Since losing Junior, maintaining this business has turned into a passion for me. Running Investment Painting Contractors was a dream we shared while he was here, so now my dream is to maintain the business as a way of keeping him alive and honoring his legacy.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
We focus mainly on interior painting and hanging drywall because that is how we started. Any sort of interior paint work you can imagine we have done and this is our most common type of work.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
We recently gutted and refinished a bedroom that had severe water damage due to a toilet on the second floor overflowing for a few days with no one noticing. The water caused all the studs to warp, the remaining paint and plaster to crack, and all the flooring to be damaged. In addition to the water damage the home was very old and poorly maintained because it was a rental property. We were able to take what had been a disaster (and any landlord's nightmare) into a beautiful new bedroom for a beautiful little girl and her family while remaining under budget for the landlord.
