A. Knowledge Edge is a full service tutoring company. We work with students of all ages in Reading, Math, Writing, Study Skills and ACT/SAT prep.
A. We have helped hundreds of students in the North Shore area. Knowledge Edge is an expert in ACT/SAT prep. On an average our students see at least a 3 point increase in their score. Reading and math students typically go up a grade level during the course of a 40-hour program.
A. We are a very unique tutoring company because we customize each student's program to their individual needs. We begin with diagnostic testing then design a plan of individual instruction to meet the child's specific needs. The plan is updated regularly as the child's skills develop. We also sent an email update to parents after each tutoring session so they can follow progress.
A. Our work is based on well respected educational research into how children learn and specific skills involved in learning to read and do math.
For ACT/SAT prep, we find that the rigor of our program reactivates and builds knowledge for studentsand equips them with knowledge of strategies that will help them to effectively manage standardized tests.
A. Parents should discuss the objectives of any tutoring program they consider. Knowledge Edge offers homework help, but we do not consider that a long term solution if a student is struggling. We would rather do testing to determine what gaps a student has in skills/knowledge and design a program to fill in those gaps.
A. Many parents come to us because they are disappointed with their child's academic performance and the child is frustrated because he or she tries but can't succeed. Our process of diagnostic assessment can identify why a child is struggling and a plan to tackle those deficiencies. What parents need to understand is that there is not usually a quick one or two session "fix" that will resolve their child's issues.
