Albuquerque Piano School
Sabrina is among the best teachers, music or otherwise, I've ever had. Each time I encounter difficulty, she always has some kind of concrete guidance to help me through it. Instead of simply telling me what I've done wrong, she shows me specifically what I can do to make it better. That's a good teacher. Plus, she's fun to be with!Oct 8, 2016Verified

Q & A
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?During the school year, I teach 37 weeks over the course of 10 months, and I divide the cost of tuition evenly over those ten months. So you are charged the same amount every month, regardless of how long or short that month is. It is easier to remember and you typically are writing smaller checks than you would if I charged month-to-month. I take cash, check, credit card or online payments. Beginning in the fall of 2017 I will be accepting automatic monthly withdrawals, for those who prefer.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? If the student is a child, I start by getting a sense of the family as a whole, because family support is important. I also make sure the family has a clear sense of who I am as a teacher; I like to balance flexibility with consistent good habits, so it's important that the family and I are on the same page before we get started. For adult students, the process is similar, just without the home support component. Once we get a sense of our values and how they meet up, I inquire about the student's personal goals as a musician and make a plan that tailors my approach to their needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Since acquiring my Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, I have continued building my experience as a pianist by working as an accompanist in ballet schools, musicals and churches. I have taught piano for over a decade, privately and at the New Mexico School of Music. I continue to seek out feedback by holding masterclasses with guest teachers and setting up duets with other studios.
