About this pro
SKYRIDE MOVERS were exceptional; From the beginning the communication was very efficient and professional. The quote was competitive and ended up being the better pick. The movers showed up on time and got right to work, saving critical time. They moved my belongings from two different locations to our new house and did it in record time. A move that would have probably taken 11+ hours w/ 4 movers was done in 7.5 hrs with a 3 men crew and NO items or walls damaged in the process. Mind you they had just completed a 15 hrs move the day before. FYI - most of our items were moved straight into the garage, as we wanted to have the time to unpack and place things accordingly. These guys literally moved everything that we asked and care for you items as if it were theirs.Jul 17, 2018Verified
Overall great experience. We hired this company because they follow all rules of FMCSA gov and state laws for out of state relocation, they do not have any complains. It was not easy to find a honest moving company like Skyride. They packed and moved all our furniture and i can not see any damage or minor scratches on my furniture. I will recommend these folks to all my friends, relatives up in DMV area.Dec 14, 2017
Better communication Update: My move was 11/19/2017. Below you stated that I was refunded on 1/10/18. Which I was not. I was only refunded half ($50) of the amount due back to me on 1/5/18, after I had to have a thumbtack specialist get involved. I still have yet to receive the remaining portion and it is now 2/26/18. You admittedly cancelled the second transaction “mistakenly”. You provided a receipt that time as well, but still no refund. I'm truly disappointed and tired of playing a game with MY money that is owed to me. I’m currently 8 months pregnant and should not have the stress of a payment that should have been refunded in November still hanging in the balance.Feb 26, 2018Verified
ATTN: SINGLE WOMEN PLEASE DON'T HIRE THIS MOVER! If I could give a negative number I would. I am a journalist and so I have moved often. Fred's customer service was lacking from the beginning. My Mom, who is 75, found him on Thumbtack. She completed the description form, received a quote from Fred, and then called Fred, and described in detail that I have a large one-bedroom basement apartment. She even pointed out the heavy items, and asked him if he would be able to accommodate my needs. He said, "Yes." I then called Fred later that afternoon, to add to the details that my Mom had already shared. We discussed his rate, which was reasonable, and he assured me he could do the job, and he told me to go to Thumbtack to "hire" him so that the job would be officially scheduled. My move was scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29 at 3pm. I "hired" this company on Thursday, Oct. 27. As I was packing on Friday, Oct. 28, I realized that I had never received a confirmation or any additional contact from Fred. I promptly called him at 7:39pm. When I called him, he had no idea who I was. After I reminded him of our conversation and I had hired him on Thumbtack, he replied, "You never followed up with me." Huh? I am the customer. Why would it be incumbent on me to follow up. I clicked "hire." What else was I to do? At any rate, Fred confirmed that his movers would arrive at 3pm. An hour later, he sent a text saying that the movers could arrive at 9am instead. I replied that wouldn't work, and would prefer to keep the 3pm slot, and that 2pm would be perfect. He never responded. I called him this morning at 9am to confirm when his movers would arrive (2pm or 3pm). I called twice. He never answered. I left a voicemail. He never responded. I sent a text message. He never responded. I finally reached him at 9:45am, when he confirmed movers would arrive at 2pm. At 1:48 pm, Fred---a business owner claiming to be a professional---sent a text message saying the movers would be late and would arrive at 3pm. The movers didn't arrive at 3pm. Nor did they arrive at 3:30. I called Fred at 3:38. He didn't answer, as per his usual. Even my fiancee called to inquire about the delay. I sent a text to which he responded at 3:46 saying they would arrive no later than 4:30 and that he would give a $100 discount off the flat rate fee. They arrived at 5:05 pm. They arrived with a short box truck for a one-bedroom apartment, with furniture and boxes. Fred received this information in TWO phone calls!!! Yet, he sends a short, box truck. Additionally, the truck already had large pieces of furniture on it! The workers did not even have gloves or proper equipment. The two men stated, "This is a lot of stuff." To which I replied, "Yes, I told Fred that." One of his employees began snapping pictures of my items, and then called Fred because it was clear that the truck was too small. The employee then told me to call Fred. I called Fred three times, and he never answered. Instead he sent a text saying, "You said you have a few things. My worker said it's a lot of things." Instead he chose to text me like a juvenile, and then cancelled the job claiming that I gave false information. Why in the world would i waste my time by giving false information?! What purpose would that serve? I have to be out of my apartment by Oct. 31. He instructed his workers to unload the truck. This is a HUGE inconvenience for me. I felt defenseless at the time, but then my fiancee, who is an attorney, reminded me that I have options. This is the worst moving experience I have ever had. Fred was rude, disrespectful, arrogant, surly, unhelpful, even mean....he sent very nasty messages blaming ME for the confusion! The audacity!!! He basically called me a liar, and that was not the case at all. I explained that my Mom filled out the Thumbtack form, but reminded him that we had SPOKEN at length twice. I have never been treated so horribly. He would not have treated a man this way. I am sure of that. Although I am writing this review, I am going to explore other measure, too. His behavior was ridiculous. What professional handles conflict via text message?! He did not even attempt to rectify the situation. The best solution---since Fred screwed up the order-- would have been to simply make trips. Instead he wrote in a text message, "When the truck is full, we will unload your things at the new address. That's it." Who does that? See attached photo of the short truck and the ginormous television and two chair that were on the truck when it arrived 3 hours late!!! Stay away from this so-called "company"!Oct 29, 2016Verified
