Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I have spent over 25 years in the business world using practical math to perform data analysis and create useful tools. I often found myself acting as a mentor/advocate for employees who needed to improve their knowledge and application of math in the workplace. In preparation for semi-retirement, I began tutoring adults and high school students and discovered that I loved providing these students with the additional support they needed to be successful. Since leaving my full time job, I have been tutoring part time in a math lab at a community college. This has provided me with the unique and challenging experience of tutoring in subjects ranging from basic math to physics and calculus on a moment's notice. Through my part time position I have all the required clearances to work with students. Here is a partial list of tutoring services offered: * Algebra * Statistics * Trigonometry * Physics * SAT/ACT math prep * Microsoft Office tutoring Finding a way to help a student get to the "ah ha" moment is very rewarding. I like to view my role as a coach to help guide the student through the learning process to develop skills that will them to become self-sufficient.

Kevin helped me get an A in my data management course. His deep knowledge and understanding of access and excel was more than adequate to cover all areas of the course. What I liked most about Kevin's style of tutoring was his down to earth nature and his ability to put things in layman's terms so that I, as an adult blue collar returning student can relate to. I think this quality is unique among tutors, professors, and other academic types.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I do not have a predetermined one size fits all solution so it is important for me to learn as much as possible about the circumstances that led to reaching out for assistance. This allows me to custom tailor the initial sessions to address the immediate priorities. As I get to know the situation and the customer becomes more comfortable, the goals are reviewed and adjusted to get the most out each session. At the end of each session I like to re-calibrate to make sure we are on track and working toward independence.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have supplemented my business experience by tutoring math at a local community college. This work has allowed me to assist students with a wide variety of needs and learning styles. Through this process I have completed fomal tutoring training and assisted students in subjects ranging from basic math to physics and compter science.
