We had the privilege of working with Andrea and she truly helped us make our house into a home. I work full time and could not have survived without her. After moving from California to Illinois, we started working with Andrea to coordinate colors and furniture for our new home. Our project took several years to finish, phase after phase, and in spite of the complexity of the task, there was never a misstep and the end result was not only beautiful but very unlike any other project in town. The final result was exactly what we wanted, a bit of California in Illinois. We were so happy with the results in Chicago that when we decided on a complete remodel for a 30 year old vacation home in Oregon, we flew Andrea out to the house where she developed a master plan. The design work included gutting our kitchen, the renovation of all the bathrooms, wood floors and new paint colors throughout, as well as furniture selections and arrangement. We first worked with Andrea when we moved into a new home and needed help with paint colors and furniture. Andrea listened closely to understand our personal style and then recommended colors so that every room was different but flowed together beautifully, and fit our lifestyle. She also recommended the furniture to ensure it was the right proportion and suggested special pieces that we still treasure today. We received so many enthusiastic compliments on our home. Since then we worked again with Andrea during a complete remodel of our vacation home, and on another new home after we moved out of state from the original home. I can’t say enough about Andrea’s extraordinary design eye and her special way of working with clients. - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?We have multiple ways of pricing our services, depending on project type. For certain services, such as providing initial design ideas, color consulting and space planning, we charge an hourly rate, subject to a minimum number of hours. For full service interior design and projects in which we can utilize our substantial designer discounts (mainly furniture purchases), we are compensated by retaining a percentage of our discount while typically passing along most of it to our clients. We request a portion of our total design fee as an upfront retainer (which is credited back on the final bill) We are compensated for our design services primarily by sharing our significant designer purchase discounts with our customers... providing them substantial savings compared with retail pricing while also covering the costs of our design fees. For larger projects we also receive an upfront retainer which is also typically more than made up for by our deep purchasing discounts that are then passed on to our clients. In some cases we may charge for our services by the project on an hourly basis. We believe in complete transparency to our pricing upfront, so please visit our web site for complete details.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?We will have an initial in depth phone conversation to talk about the proposed project. It is important for us to understand what your expectations are around a budget and a timeline, Once we fully understand the parameters, we will schedule an in-home or in-office meeting and discuss how we move forward.
