FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My fee is based the type of editing requested. I use an hourly rate or a project estimate when it isn't clear how many hours the project will require. For straight-forward proofreading or copy editing, I use a per-page rate. Once I see a client's work and have a conversation with them about what they need, I send them either a firm estimate or a range that I think is a fair representation of the time it will take to complete the project.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I think of each new project as a partnership between the client and me. This involves an initial conversation by phone to clarify what he or she is looking for, and what their expectations are for the finished product.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in communication and 35 years of experience writing and editing technical publications and marketing materials, fiction and non-fiction literature, and academic work.
