FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After a potential client reaches me through the Thumbtack app and we determine that I am available for the dates you require, we schedule a free meet and greet visit in your home. I answer any questions you may have and also interact with your pets, too! They should have a say in who you choose to care for them as well. I’ll also bring you references and letters of recommendation at that time. During the time I am caring for your pets, I will send texts to you with any questions I may have, and news about how they are doing with occasional photos, too. I don’t want you to have any worries or questions about how things are going while you are on your trip!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I’ve been a member of Pet Sitters International for many years. They provide ongoing education for their members about all the various types of birds, reptiles, pocket pets and dogs and cats, horses, etc. that we care for, and I’ve found it to be an incredible asset to my pet sitting career.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I believe it was 1984 that I did my first pet sitting job. A client of the vet hospital where I worked called frantic because her pet sitter cancelled on her last minute. Carol knew me pretty well and knew I loved her golden retriever, Dino. So I agreed to stay at her house and care for Dino and the 2 Siamese cats. I fell in love with pet sitting during that first experience providing love and comfort and playtime to her very dear pets. And I’ve been a pet sitter ever since! I continued working at the hospital until 2009, when I made the decision to devote all my time to my pet sitting career.
