Introduction: Hello. My name is Anjanette M. Dennis and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have a Masters in Clinical Psychology and 20 years experience. At times, life may present challenges, trauma, tragedy, heartbreak, disappointment, or stress that make maintaining balance difficult. Helping people overcome obstacles, relationship challenges, couples and family conflict, and over come trauma is the primary focus of my practice. I treat children, teens, young adults, couples, and families. I have worked at a correctional facility, outpatient program, day treatment program, residential program, school, and private practice.
In premarital or marital counseling, I help couples see how patterns become habits, shaped by feelings, that are connected to thoughts and behaviors. Sometimes these habits are healthy and sometimes they are harmful. In couples therapy, through talk therapy, worksheet exercises, exploration of childhood, processing parental influence, and role play; together we process the habits in the relationship, keeping some, and tossing others. relationships are about compromise, th joining of two separate lives nto one. Keep in mind that couples counseling is not covered by most insurance companies. Insurance companies usually only cover treatment for diagnosable "medical" issues. With the national divorce rate rising, so many couples are in need of support. I try to keep my hourly rate for couples affordable. All couples deserve afforadable access to therapy just as much as other individuals do. Sometimes having a neutral third party can help couples "stuck" in patterns that aren't working, view and approach their relationship with a fresh set of eyes.
When working with youth and adolescents, I use art and play therapy with the younger population who are still developing their language skills. Children and adolescents work through emotional distress through creative avenues in addition to talk therapy.
I provide office therapy and travel to client's homes to provide counseling if needed. Whichever is more comfortable for the client😊
