FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most clients want a set price, known as an estimate. And I am happy to provide one. The concept of hourly work (being paid by an hourly rate) intimidates them because they feel like they can't foresee a final cost. However, many consumers don't realize that a set estimate or price for a project has to include time for potentially unforeseen variables on behalf of the builder. For example, while digging concrete pier footing holes while building a deck... What if they encounter very rocky soil and the digging takes twice as long? A fixed price must factor in these variables. Which means an hourly arrangement ends up actually making a project potentially lower cost for a homeowner because the client pays only for the work that is actually done, versus the work that could be done.
