Introduction: I have just moved into a new studio in the Clarendon neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia. Sing up for your first COMPLIMENTARY 60-minute lesson today! I am a multi-faceted musician and educator who received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music and a Master of Music Degree in voice pedagogy from Shenandoah University. Since formally launching my voice studio in 2009 my private students have been accepted into America’s leading collegiate training programs including Berklee Conservatory, Bucknell University, The Circle in the Square Conservatory, The Crane School of Music, CAP21, The Eastman School of Music, Emerson College, The Hartt School of Music, Ithaca College, NYU, Northwestern University, Penn State University, School of the Arts, Shenandoah Conservatory, Skidmore College, University of the Arts, and Westminster Choir College. Many are now working professionally across the country as music educators and performers I have music directed over fifty staged musical theater productions. Bonamico made his solo vocal debut in NYC at the Laurie Beechman Theater in 2007 and has been a soloist on numerous recordings and video productions including A Counterpoint Christmas and a Choral Excursion both produced for and aired nationally on NPR and PBS. His arrangement of the songs “Brother Can You Spare a Dime” and “Shall We Gather at the River” was featured in the award-winning documentary film The Stone River by Italian filmmaker Giovanni Donfrancesco. Singing is one of life's truest expressions of joy. So, I am in the joy cultivation business. While being a performer takes diligence and sacrifice, in the end, each moment we spend needs to be filled with exuberance. What better way to spend the days could there be?

Piero directly influenced my path to becoming a professional actor. When I first met him when he substituted for my conductor in middle school orchestra, I was instantly drawn to his passion for teaching music and the ease with which he led a group of kids to reach their full potential. He knew exactly how to communicate best with each individual. A few years later, when I began taking private voice lessons from him and joined his choruses, I was impressed by his breadth of teaching: in addition to singing technique, Piero also taught responsibility and professionalism to those interested in pursuing music as a career. He even organized a trip to New York City so his students could visit schools and workshop with industry professionals. During one such trip, I discovered and auditioned for CAP21 Conservatory, the school I eventually attended and which set me on the path to a career in NYC theatre. I would not be where I am today without Piero. He teaches much more than singing; he helps you grow as a performer, and he prepares you to go into the professional world, should you decide to do so. His passion and energy are contagious, and he brings out the best in all his students.

Piero was my voice instructor while my family was living in Vermont on and off during the past few years. Even though singing wasn’t something I thought I wanted to/should focus on, he managed to bring me out of my comfort zone and build for me a very secure vocal foundation that I have retained and refer to much more than I would have expected. Piero mixes fun and an amusingly sarcastic sense of humor into every lesson, and is an incredibly supportive human. I, being a very shy person when it comes to singing at all anywhere, was not keen on the idea of singing in front of anyone. Piero, somehow, created an incredibly safe environment and got rid of most of my fear about taking lessons almost immediately. I ended up auditioning for a production of the little mermaid at his encouragement and, though it must have been three or four years ago now, still look back on the show with absolutely joy. It was an experience that highlighted a love of theater (even musicals!) that I had more or less suppressed. Had it not been for Piero, I wouldn’t have done it, and who knows how much I would have missed out on. As well as being a fantastic teacher, he is generally a really great person. Though I’m sad that he isn’t close enough for me to take lessons again, I’m so excited for anyone and everyone who gets to be his student now.

I worked with Piero in college. He is one of the best people I've ever met as a voice teacher, collaborator, and friend. He will not let you get away with any tricks, but only to better you and your voice. He is one of a kind!

I would not be the man I am today if not for the incredible teachings of Piero Bonamico. He understands the voice in ways all other vocal coaches I've encountered have failed to understand. He knows how to bring out the best in all his students both as vocalists and as people. If you want to make the most out of your money then choose Bonamico, for no other vocal Coach will be nearly as superb.

Piero coached me on my solo during a high school production of Godspell. He had high standards, and took the work seriously, but still made the learning process enjoyable and made us all laugh a lot. I can belt high notes to this day because of him! I also worked in a pit band when Piero was the music director of Green Mountain Valley School's production of Shrek (a competitive ski school in VT). He was firm and very musical, and always saw the big picture so that everyone could build up to an outstanding production. Piero knows music and he knows how to get high school students to give their best, even reach levels of technique they didn't know they could reach!
