Allyson put together plans for a porch and two bathrooms. This actually spanned multiple years --- she had done some prior work sketching porch design concepts, which we used to decide on our final porch design. For this project, she put together a full permit set. She met with us multiple times to clarify our needs and wants, she provided options and opinions when requested, and she executed the permit set flawlessly. She also worked with the contractor as needed to provide any minor additions that the permit expediters or the city wanted/needed. She was very responsive and a pleasure to work with. She informed us of any time she might be out of town in case we needed to reach her, and she was sensitive to our desired timeline to complete the permit set. We were almost completely on budget, with only a slight addition because we expanded the scope of work to have her also include the second bathroom in her permit drawings, which had not been initially included. Great to work with, we would use her again.

My experience could not have been better with Turco McCarthy. A+ all the way around. I worked with Allyson, and she is a total pro. She absolutely knows her craft, she is incredibly responsive, and was always willing to help me at all phases of the project. The scope of my project: expanding a room, adding a pantry, adding a screened-in porch, adding an outdoor kitchen area, and exploring a master site plan for a potential garage addition for Phase II. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We charge $85/hr for residential work but that is typically for additional services or tiny jobs. Normally we provide a lump sum amount for the design phase and a range lump sum for permit documents. It is based on the project scope, permitting requirements and amount of time anticipated to complete the project.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We set up a consult to meet the potential client and see the residence while discussing the scope of work. From there, we provide a scope of work letter with the estimate provided. After setting a date for the first design meeting, we likely need to measure existing conditions for a renovation; not necessarily required for new construction. At the design meetings, clients review the design concepts for discussion and once a solution is determined, we provide the permit documents.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Professional college degree and licensed in both the state of Georgia and Florida.
