FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Basic hourly fee is $30 per hour, but I am willing to consider alternative fee structures such as a flat project fee or skills trades for those in need.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
At Dancing Dog Studios, the process starts with getting to know the client and their musical needs. I would encourage clients to come by and chat about how we can help. This of course is gratis and I am willing to sit down for as long as it takes to outline a plan. Helpful things to discuss include: - Style and length of recording - Purpose of recording ie demo, CD, electronic download, etc - Musicians / instruments to be recorded - Scope of work ie, tracking only, procurement of studio musicians, production, mixing, mastering etc - budget All of this is critical and many times there may be a need to bring in other professionals. I can help with that.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
While I've attended several seminars directly related to sound engineering, the vast majority of my training has come from on the job experience with pros. I find that to be the most enlightening and honest way to grow. Over my 30 years in the business, I've personally recorded in countless studios from the 80s to the present. And yes, technology has changed significantly ie from tape to digital and direct to computer hard drive. My preference of software recording is with Logic, but I am comfortable with Pro Tools and any other DAW format.
