I believe that effective communication is about storytelling. Every text -- sales copy, office memo, dissertation, etc -- asks its audience to buy into a narrative, a specific version of events. Stories motivate us. They're how we make sense of the world. In everything I write, be it a "story" or not, I try to include the principles of narrative.
