I came in for couples counseling with my wife, which is a tough thing to start. This was our first time seeing a counselor, and Melody was really welcoming and helped us feel a little more relaxed. We were pretty nervous, but Melody was so great in helping us get started talking. She is an amazing listener and is very patient. Her questions really made me think and helped put things in a different perspective. She made difficult topics a lot more manageable. Highly recommended!Feb 9, 2016

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I always offer a 20-minute free consultation (phone/ in-person) so we can see if we're a good fit for each other. If so, I take time to listen to the client's issue and ensure that she/ he feels affirmed and understood. Afterwards, we will assess the problem, define measurable goals, and build a therapeutic plan together. The plan has to suit the client's values, beliefs, and lifestyle needs. Next, we get right to work and measure change as we move along.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I obtained my Master's of Arts in Counseling, and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA) in Texas and a National Certified Counselor (NCC).
- How did you get started doing this type of work?As one that has navigated through rough waters, I can hold a non-judgmental space for you to come just as you are. There is no need to hold back or to censor yourself. Seriously! Earlier in my journey, I was an educator. With a passion for working with children and adolescents, I gained experience in schools and non-profit environments. Today, I help adults, adolescents, and couples flourish in their identities, relationships, careers, and holistic health. My approach is grounded in my pursuit for social justice and love of diversity.
