FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $90 per hour. I do 30-minute, 45-minute, and hour-long lessons. I am offering a 10% discount if you purchase a 3-month or 6-month package. If I come to your house, I will charge a bit extra per lesson, depending on how far I have to drive. If price is an issue for you, I am definitely willing to figure out something that works for both of us!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I first schedule an introductory lesson with the new student. In this lesson, I like to hear the student play a bit if they feel so inclined, and then I ask some questions about goals. I then develop an individualized curriculum for my new student and we get started with lessons at the frequency of their choice - usually once per week.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in music theory and jazz piano performance. I trained under my college piano teacher to learn his pedagogy and took on half of his students as an interim instructor after college. I have been teaching private lessons for about 15 years, and was a high school music teacher. I have over 20 years of experience playing in bands and gigging to draw from as well. I feel well equipped to not only teach piano in a traditional sense, but also to teach people how to play their instrument in a band.
