Keith Minikus is the best strength coach I've ever had. After training with him for 2+ years now, he stands out for several reasons: 1) depth of knowledge and quality of programming - his programs are detailed and targeted to produce results. He stays current on exercise physiology theory and what's happening in the world of strength training to apply to his clients. 2) His coaching style. Keith is approachable and has a great sense of humor, which comes in handy when you're straining through the last set. He's a terrific listener and very responsive to individual concerns, even in a group training setting. 3) Commitment to safety. Keith is attuned to safe movements and motion paths, and makes sure his clients are lifting properly. With Keith it's not about lifting more, more more - it's about lifting properly, then more. Highly recommend working with Keith and The Turf & Iron Athlete!

I feel really fortunate to get to work with Keith. He has been a great source of inspiration and has worked hard to create a program that fits my lifestyle, limitations, and still pushes me to grow stronger. As a non-traditional client with a muscular condition, it has been hard to find someone with the patience to create a good program. He doesn't let me off easy, but works with me and pushes me hard enough to get better and stronger. There was even some doubt about my ability to get stronger; but after a year, my strength and lean mass has improved. He knows how to encourage a client to be better, and seems to take a long-term approach to fixing weaknesses and imbalances. Several times i haven't understood the purpose of something we were doing until weeks later my technique had improved and difficult lifts suddenly felt easy.

Outside functional physical therapy, working with Keith after my injury was the best thing I could have done for my recovery. I came to Keith a little over a year after a pretty bad leg injury, hoping to regain strength in my leg and even out a lot of the small discrepancies between the different sides of my body. Keith was extremely knowledgeable in targeting specific muscles and adjusting exercises that best suited my body. He was patient with me (I had never lifted weights before!) as I learned a lot of new movements and was constantly making small adjustments to ensure I reached my goals. I hope I don't ever break my leg again, but I would recommend anyone hoping to get back to sport after injury to work with a strength trainer -- and Keith is top notch! Thanks so much for everything, Keith!

I have been training with Keith for over 5 years now. He takes great pains to tailor your workouts to your goals, and to keep the exercises within your capabilities. He's also very flexible for scheduling, and he's helped me become stronger than I've ever been!
