Joel Michael-Schwartz Music
About this pro
Joel is not only a virtuoso musician, but he's a true professional. He plays well and he "plays well with others." Truly a pleasure to work with, and every musical experience I've had with him has been tremendously rewarding.May 26, 2018
Joel is great! We've worked and made music together for nearly three years now.May 25, 2018
Joel is an incredible teacher! He helped me and 2 other friends (who also take classes with him around the same time) to put together a band that was playing live shows after 6 months of lessons. All of us were completely novice musicians. He even learned how to play a new instrument, the Andean charango, so he could teach one of our band members how to incorporate it into our playing. Joel's lessons are fun and disciplined. Exactly the combination you want for making progress and staying invested in learning how to play your instrument.May 25, 2018
Joel is highly professional and an excellent musician. He is truly devoted to his craft in a way that inspires me, and everyone he works with to do their best. I always jump on opportunities to collaborate with him.May 25, 2018
Joel is a great and knowledgable teacher and player. He's enthusiastic about what he's teaching and has a ton to offer students of whatever level.May 25, 2018

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge $30 for 30 minute lessons, and $50 for hour long lessons. Event pricing is variable depending on the event, the distance away, the size of the ensemble, the music, etc.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? This very much depends on who they are and what they want to learn. However, I will typically begin by asking them to show me where they are now, identifying any short or long term goals they may have, and then reacting to what I see in their playing to build skills.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a B.A. in music performance and music theory/composition. I have been playing mandolin for eleven years, and guitar for seven years. I have been teaching guitar and mandolin for five years.
